Free autoresponder Script?

What other free autoresponder scripts are out there?

The only one I know of that seems to have recommendations from people is

Infinite Responder:
Infinite Responder - Free Autoresponder Script

All I've been able to find using HotScripts are sites that are dead, the script is no longer free, etc.

I can't believe that there is only one script. (And I'm referring to one that even looks usable.)

Thanks.

I agree, I am also looking for a free Autoresponder.

I will not pay $20 per a month for a service like that.

It could be worth it considering deliverability. Do you really want to depend on the subscriber to take you out of spam every time you email them. Chances are they will the first time, but won't know to even look for you again.

No offense, it isn't that your own installation doesnt work, its just that aweber and getresponse work better. Not to mention the problems with importing lists and such, when you do decide to go to the paid (better) service.

Just my opinion, in the mean time, search google for free autoresponder, or autoresponder script.

I am not sure what this script will even do?

Will it work the same as Aweber?

Of course not. People are using autoresponder services because of their deliverability and avoiding spam issues.

The more people there are that have your attitude the more the rest of us who understand the immense value of paying for such services will make. Keep up the good work!

Isn't deliverability a main factor in the reliability of an autoresponder? I understand that you thread wasn't intended to debate the free-vs-paid autoresponder issue, but any autoresponder is worthless it doesn't get the mail delivered.

On your actual question, Infinite Responder is actually quite good and it's a sequential responder so it can emulate a lot of the functionality of AWeber. There is also PHP List, it is also a reliable piece of software but it doesn't do sequential responses.

I didn't feel like paying the fees either, but then I realized that if you're using email marketing, deliverability is NOT an option. Even if you happen to be whitelisted by every ISP, what will happen to your business when your server crashes? Even a few minutes of downtime could be seriously detrimental. Is that something you really want to sweat about?

This is why I'd rather pay $20 for Aweber or GetResponse. You may have to pay that fee now, but doing that every month could save you thousands of dollars and ruined relationships if you went the alternative.

So that's the attitude that you show to, and the contempt that, you hold for your customers - is it?

Send them any script, as long as it functions and have no regard to the fact that they will probably be shut down by their ISP due to spam complaints.

I'm glad that I have no association with your business, or indeed your business model.

Look, you came here for free advice on where to get a free script to make money off of. People have shared their opinions based on your original post, and when others asked for clarification, you stated that you've already explained yourself.

So here's some answers for you-

          1) When seeking advice from others, it always pays to be humble. Please and thank you work wonders. And if someone asks a question to better gauge what you're looking for, it makes a lot of sense to answer that question as thoroughly as possible.

          2) I believe what you are looking for is an actual written email sales script, not software or a program to send emails with. In this case, there are free ones out there on the Internet...but you'd be a fol to use a generic script that's not targeted towards your ideal audience. The money you'll lose by trying to save money will add up to be a lot more than the money you'd spend on having a professional write you a script that will convert.

          3) No, we don't know you...but your attitude speaks volumes about the type of person you are. So here's a friendly reminder- nobody here owes you anything and when you act like they do, then you should not be surprised when they give you some attitude. Again, please and thank you goes a very long way here.

          4) If I'm wrong with the type of advice you're seeking, or if everyone else has been wrong so far, then that's 100% your fault. So on top of the please and thank you, an "I'm sorry" may also do your case justice for not directly explaining what you're looking for.

oscar D if you would pay $20 for autoresponder why not using Aweber, only cost $19 a month in the first place. You know the point we online marketers depends heavy on email to contact our prospective customers, so choose a reliable service is a must. I didn't choose a reliable service at the beginning when I started marketing online so I ended up to pay extra $197+ to buy a script and not to mention you have to find a server that allow you to email 3000+ contacts per hour. That's very expensive if you count the cost. (by the way, most likely you have to have a dedicated or VDS if you email that many amount of subscribers like me, that can easily cost you $100-$200 per month) so don't risk on cheap or free autoresponders.

if you do not wish to pay try listwire or sendfree, it is a hosted solution and thus many spam problems are avoided.
If you think you can install a script and send emails reliably, think again. It takes a huge amount of work to make sure that your emails get into the inbox.

I would advise you to go for a service or script that has an active community or support available. There can be lot of problems making a script up and running and if there is no active support then you are all on your own. It is better to pay a small monthly fee to an email service provider, rather than doing it yourself specially if you are not very technical.

Are you sure it's PHP that broke it? I read about a MySQL fix that gets the script running.

mysql - How do I fix: "...error in your SQL syntax; check the manual for the right syntax" - Stack Overflow

      And from HotScripts...
Just downloaded and installed this script and am very impressed. The installation is simple as long as you know how to create a database and user in cpanel, but one comment for anyone struggling with it: The database tables are for an earlier version of mysql, so after uploading you may find you get an error message on your home page refering to incorrect syntax. The solution will take about 5 minutes.

Simply go to your script directory and open the file named defs.sql At the end of every table you'll see: TYPE=InnoDB CHARACTER SET utf8; Wherever you see the word TYPE change it to read ENGINE. Apart from that it's easy to install, easy to use and easy to customise. Brilliant little script!

It's not worth your time and effort installing an auto-responder script on your server. I see this written a lot. Fact is, Aweber, Mailchimp and GetResponse all started with teeny-tiny teams. As they grew revenue, they purchased more hardware and teams to scale business. They started at the beginning, just like us.

You can run your own mail server, but you must keep it clean by preventing bounces, setting up white-listing and following a few other industry standards that are readily available for free everywhere.

The only real question here is....what's easier. That part is a no-brainer. Paying them to handle everything is awesome. And the fact that Aweber/GetResponse/MailChimp integrates with plugins and software out of the box is attractive. That angle I can't argue with at all.

But if you're running on a tight budget, self-hosting is possible and it's dirt cheap. Just don't spam! And don't buy lists. And email people that want to hear from you.

I agree. I've been using a script on my own server for around 10 years now and have had no real problems with it. It only cost me $67 originally and the only reason I am viewing this thread is because the script I use is no longer supported and doesn't work with PHP5.5 or above. Now that my host is about to remove PHP5.4, I've no choice but to look for an alternative.

Whilst I agree that deliverability is of paramount importance; provided you are careful about what you send and follow all the good practive guidelines; not only do you save a small fortune in monthly subscriptions, but you have full control over your mailing lists which are, of course, your most important assets. I fully intend to continue to use a self-hosted script until such a time as my mailing lists become too large for my host's mail servers to handle. (Even then I may simply tranfer them to Amazon SES). I was considering trying the infinite responder myself, so thanks to the poster who mentioned that too has problems with the new PHP, I will now be checking out the Parabots script!

ActiveCampaign, $9/mo to start. I've been using it for awhile now after Aweber for a couple years, and really enjoying its automation features.

Even if you can find a free autoresponder, it's likely you'll run into two big problems:

    1. You'll be limited on the # of signups, probably to only a couple hundred.

    2. When you grow past that, you'll have to import these into a paid system, and you'll lose some for sure. This loss is a big % of your list at that time.

Best to avoid these issues and go for the system you're committed to right away.

Oh, and every system goes down.

When it does, the herd goes "OMG HOW AWFUL I CAN'T BELIEVE IT" and runs to another provider.

    Dumb.

    Don't do that.
