Reverse Whois? Anyone know how...

Does any one know how I can find out what domain names a company owns?

I know DomainTools Whois offers some sort of report, but I am not sure if it is the right thing so just wondering if any one has done this before?

Thanks!

It won't be 100% accurate but one thing you can start by doing is taking one of the companies websites and looking up the IP address it is hosted on.

Most companies will want to save a little money and keep all their sites in one place on a shared hosting plan. If you do a reverse lookup on the IP address for their main site you will find out what other websites are hosted on that IP address.

From there you can do a whois on the other domains and see who is the owner of them.

The downsides of doing this are that (1) if the company is using a shared host for their sites, you may have 100 sites show up and only 5 of them actually belong to the company you are looking for. (2) If the company puts the sites they register in the names of their customers (or has privacy set up on the domain names), you may not be able to tell which sites they own of the ones that show up and (3) If they do have seperate IP addresses or have a hosting plan which spreads them out over several IP's, you won't see the entire list of domains.
