Best way to proceed with Amazon site?

So I had this site I was doing Amazon posts by hand last year and I kinda dropped it. Then I started getting Amazon checks in the mail (only $100 last 2 months) so I thought maybe I should start up again. I want to make it way easier this time, though. Last time it was too much writing and I got sick of it.

Right now I have installed the Amazon Product in a Post plugin which I'm liking and strategy is to do posts by category such as "best ___", "top 10 ____" rather than a single product.

Biggest question I have is how much original content do I need to write on each post and is it risky to include ANY Amazon content at all? I've already customized the plugin to mask all the affiliate links. I'll be doing this on a 12+ year old site with good authority so usually can rank well as many times as I've re-invented this domain.

My assumption would be that it's fine to copy some information directly from Amazon, but you have to reference it.

Don't be worried about duplicate content, because copying from other sites & referencing it, isn't considered duplicate content.

Try your best to create original content and add Amazons content when appropriate.

Well, i have been testing few new things/strategies to promote amazon products. I recently created an amazon store based on a music niche, using wordpress theme (WPZoner) added with this plugin called (Associate Goliath) which automatically fetches the content from amazon and adds to the website with all the price, ratings, reviews... means no unique fresh content at all,,. And just left it.

Now after a month or so, i checked my amazon account and found few sales being made from my site.. It was just for a testing purpose and I have not worked much on the website. (I only get few hundred visits on that)

I am planning to work on it again, and write some detailed reviews on featured products from few related categories to drive some traffic.

I used to want to do it this way and save myself some work. But from what I've read, plugins like that and WP Robot seem to violate the term of Amazon Associates because they copy Amazon's site content. I'm not 100% sure though, but from what I read it looks to be the case, and I don't want to risk my Associates account over it.

And to the OP, glad to hear you're earning money with Amazon Associates.

Stick to this method. Right good, long content and you'll see great conversions. Tried and tested method (top 10____)

I'll mix both content. Amazon reviews and some original content. If you love the niche, you'll love adding content.

Very important! A lot of people overlook this and go after niches with the highest search volume or CPC but the key to be successful in a niche is to be really Passionate about it
