How to finalize this 1K WEBSITE sale?

Just sold a site and not sure how to process the sale.

The buyer contacted me after an unsuccessful flippa sale.

He is happy to pay via paypal and im happy to do that also.

What do I need to give him? user access logins to admin area? hosting, website files etc?

What about all the social pages? I use FB, Twitter, Youtube, how does that work?

Any help is appreciated (if I ever see you out ill buy you a beer

Cheers

I would personally use Escrow.com rather than Paypal. What if he decides to dispute the payment after you transfer everything?

Is it Wordpress? If so, transfer instructions are here:
    http://domainingdiva.com/transfer.pdf

Same procedure if it's not only without the database.

He will need to have an account at the registrar that the domain is registered at so you can push the domain to him.

As for other accounts, just give him logins if the sale includes a twitter account, fb page, youtube channel, etc.

Thanks, no its not WP. Its a custom solution.

I might get my web developer to help me out (he wont turn down a six pack).

With the social accounts, what do you mean give him the accounts? I have my emails and personal info connected to them?

Not sure I understand your question.

First Suzanne right don't use PayPal.

Second, Depending on your ad what did it say. Where you selling the social accounts too ? If not keep them and after the transaction 3-4 days or so ask him/her if they want the accounts for a fixed fee. Did you offer hosting, free transfer of the files. Really depends on your sales page what you offered up.

Most importantly you need to get paid and get the site over to them but avoid PayPal you be glad you didn't go that way

You can PM if you like if you need more help.

I think he is fairly legit he offered me cash or paypal or whatever other payment method I prefer.

      Thanks, i'll look into escrow.

Yes I did offer the social accounts.

All seems a bit too much work. Wondering if it is even worth the price he offered now... hmmm?

I would follow sbucciarels advice with Escrow. If you dig into WF you will find several posts where sites have been jacked through flippa with Paypal disputes.

Just to confirm it's not via flippa.

Its a one on one deal.

I was thinking of asking for 50% up front, give him site admin details and social accounts, then ask for the other 50% and give him the hosting account and or do the transfer.

Several people have responded to use Escrow.com... Take that advice. We don't want to see you back on here in the future saying "I got screwed." Take the advice from someone who has sold, transferred, and moved hundreds of sites...

You're wrong about that. Flippa will bill you as soon as the domain is transferred for the success fee. It was because of your listing on Flippa that the site sold, and they track the whois after a listing has closed and send the success fee invoice to your account.

As for the 50/50 ... you're making this harder than it is. Get all the money up front, push the domain to him, give him the social account logins and zip up the site files and give him a link. Done.

            EDIT: Here's why I suggested Escrow.com

If you offered the social accounts, you have to provide them to him. Normally when you offer social accounts with a website, they aren't your personal accounts. They are accounts that you built specifically for the website and are easily transferred just by giving them the login info.

Be aware that in effect, you're the one taking all the risk, if you do that.

Escrow, cash and Western Union are all much safer, from your perspective. I'm "just saying". And good luck!
