      are you joking?

They have been terrible since being bought out. In fact they are not the Hostgator we once knew and loved.

The server migration and recent large downtime are just the beginning of the end for HG I fear and I'm now looking for new hosting.

If anyone has any recommendations it would be appreciated...

Edit - Check out the HG forums for more about their recent performance - http://forums.hostgator.com/shared-h...upport-f7.html

I've used Hostgator and Bluehost in the past.

Both have served their purpose for me and both
    come with fantastic support.

    That's what I look for...

    ...Reliable service.

    Great round the clock support.

All the best and hope this helps.

    Regards
    Gavin

hostgator is actually awesome. They have some downtime like all web hosts. The only difference is they are massive so you hear about it more. Check the web host section here. You can score a deal or two.

Except since EIG migrated servers to Provo (Utah) they did so with little to no warning to clients and fully messed it up.

The "upgraded" servers are now overloaded and many (if not all) customers have noticed slow downs in loading speeds. Myself included.

Furthermore, the downtime has skyrocketed. I would personally avoid any EIG hosting company. The list and downtime info from 2nd Aug can be found here:

Endurance International Group - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Hostgator were in fact awesome. The best probably. I had zero issues with them for 7+ years until the buyout and since then there has been a progressive number of issues. Coincidence? I don't think so...

I'd say any decent shared provider should work then. Just be sure to do your research on that providers you're looking at.

I'm from morocco , Yes I've heard that , but I'v seen lately eveybody here at the warriorforum saying that hostgator become one of the EIG societies and there service is down and many people here complain about that , I'm a newbie I don't want to have too many problems in my first project because I'm not skilled enough to handle these problems while losing the only money I have now to run my first business .

ASO is also owned by EIG as is HostNine..

EDIT: I wouldn't call them a scam, they're based out of Durham here in North Carolina, but I would guess it's only a matter of time before they're migrated up to Utah with the other EIG owned companies.

Only experience I have with them is doing customer migrations "from" and I wouldn't recommend them. The transfer rates are often throttled so low that it becomes excruciatingly slow.

HostGator is very good. Excellent customer service. Every host runs into a problem now and then which leads to a negative comment. But this host is a good one to use.

That means that they have servers located in those countries. But you don't actually have to live there.

Just pick the one closest to where you'll be doing the most of your advertising so sites will load quicker for your visitors.

Some reliable hosts to look at are StableHost (Just moved my Hostgator sites there, actually), Site5 and Arvixe.

So far so good. Been with them only a couple of days (since the Hostgator blackout) but everything has been good so far.

They were quick and got all my HG sites migrated over in just a few hours.

Does anyone else notice that there are 3 to 4 of these "which hosting provider is best" threads per day?

Starting to drive me a little nuts...

This stuff has been beat to death and chewed on 50 times over. To the OP, do a search and you'll find all the opinions you need because everybody has one. All the threads look the same so yours won't be any different.

Yes it is your nuts, but there is no harm helping out any new members who ask for help and guidance.

Ok, You know for one thing Hypno mind, which is clear, steer clear of Host Gator.
There have been acquisitioned recently, a lot of disquiet on the web due
      to bad service.

You are probably suffering form analysis of paralysis with all suggestions by
WF community here for reliable hosting. You will not find the 'perfect' host.
However, you want nearest as possible to it.

But Look at it this way what i can suggest is how much per month or year you are willing to spend
on hosting? Hosting is myriad on the web, for about few dollars per month you can find many
hosting plans that will sufficient to you. Don't agonize on which one to go with, like the big name
types such as HostGator, BlueHost, FatCow, Host Monster, forget these!!
These are the ones that hog the first Google searches under the pretentious webpage of 'Hosting Reviews' or
      Top Ten Hosting Reviews Exposed,
etc., etc, imho, they spend heavily on advertsing to 'harvest' as many customers from the Google searches, and
then turn into big balloon, losing that personal quality touch to look after their customers. I have steered clear of these types.

My advise is just get on to the hosting - just take the bite, jump in & see how you get on. Below are a couple of
lesser known companies, smaller operators, generally, I had the pleasure of dealing with nice competitive prices for start-ups:

      https://www.scalahosting.com/top-web-hosting

      Indichosts.net

      Namecheap.com (been around a while and well-known)

      Hope this helps

P.S. In case someone jumps on me, above are not affiliated links ok?
      Thanks.

My suggestion is for you to do a search on the search engines for hosting services. Their offers, features, rates and the testimonials of users. Do comparison and you'll eventually find the hosting service which will be perfect for you.
