hi Does anyone know if you can get a temporary broadband air card for laptop? I need it for a business trip and do not need a year contract. |

I think you'll be required to make a contract. Have you called where you are staying ahead of time? A lot of places will give you free internet access now. Search to see if there are any hot spots in advance as well - like starbucks or mc donalds Also, I just found out about this new thing (well new to me) that does what you are looking for but not sure how to purchase the access: B L A S T Prepaid Internet Card The guy who just moved in next door uses this - and I'm currently out on Nantucket. He got it initially in Florida some how - but not sure which site he went through, but it is called blast. Basically they have some kind of networks set up or that they tap into so people in your situation can prepay and get some service. You may have to hunt around for more info on it. |

Checkout boingo, it's $10 a month and gives you access to thousands of WIFI spots. If you're in a hotel, or anywhere near downtime you should be able to pick up at least 1 boingo wifi spot.

First, most places won't require a contract, but you will pay 200-300 for the card itself at full price. Second, why not get one with a trial period if you only need it for 7 days. Take it back after the trip. You should be able to get a 15-30 day trial. I know Alltel offers a 15 day trial and you can take it back before that is up for all your money back. |
