can wso's be closed and published to kindle?

I don't know much about kindle at all but I believe you can't have the same content available elsewhere if it's on kindle right?

If so... is it OK to launch a wso, close it and then offer the book on kindle?

Open a support ticket with Amazon, they can give you the correct answer. It is possible if they only say not available for sale elsewhere, but you are better off asking them directly.

    Nice family by the way

A book can be sold on kindle as well as smashwords, barnes and nobles etc but if the price is lower than at amazon they can price match it to that price.

KDP is the self-pubbing arm of Amazon. KDP Select is the exclusive arm of Amazon KDP.

You enroll a book in Select for 90 days... making it exclusive to Amazon. During that time you are allowed to set the price at FREE for a total of 5 days AND your book is also available to be borrowed by Amazon Prime members.

Things have changed greatly in the last year, so consider carefully and do your due diligence before making a decision. Lots of info available about Select is no longer up to date.

    This is great info thanks.

Do reviews help increase the visibility of my book? Obviously I know the contribute to the likelihood that someone purchases it but I'm wondering if having more reviews has any effect on how amazon promotes the book?

For example, if 3000 people on my list bought the book (or downloaded it free in the 5 day period of time), and left 500 reviews, would that have any effect to getting more exposure?

As far as I know, at this point, Amazon ranks by sales, not by reviews. Reviews can help your potential readers, though.
