What to do with this domain?

So I have the domain: wizzed.com

I'm not sure what to do with it, I know it's an easy to remember domain and its quite brandable so there is some value to the name there. I'm thinking maybe a weird news stories website or something, or I may possibly sell it.. I wonder how much it is worth?

It is worth what someone is willing to pay for it. Not a penny more. It is a catchy name and brandable if you can put together a site that makes sense.

    Ha, I like that domain!

If you do sell it, don't let it go for less than 5 figures...otherwise just build it out yourself.

Personally, for the minimum amount of 5 figures, I can buy 3 domains better than that one.

I'm sure if someone came here trying to get an evaluation for a name like 'Google' or 'Twitter' before they became what they are today, many people would be saying the same thing about those names too.

@arranrice It sounds like you have some ideas what to do with it. A weird news story site sounds pretty cool. You are never going to know the true value of that domain name unless you develop it yourself or receive an offer by someone who wants to buy it.

          Good luck though

Are you serious? Is this domain really worth 5 figures?
But of course, it is a brandable name and the best option to make the most out of this domain is to use it. It's value will increase with it's use.

Only if you can find someone willing to pay more than $1K for it. The buyers won't just drop in your lap. I'd develop it into a site and then consider selling it when the site had traffic and revenue.

Here's the truth (which nobody likes hearing, and some try to deny): domain-names have no real value above and beyond their registration-fees.

What they're "worth" depends on what you can sell them for. And I mean "what you can sell them for". The amount of money they produce, on sale, depends on the skills of the person selling them at identifying, approaching and negotiating with potentially interested parties.

The huge mistake that people typically make, in disposing of domain-names, is approaching it as a question of "Where should I sell it?" For most domain-names, the answer to that question is "It doesn't matter": what matters is how you go about notifying the potentially interested parties (to whom it may have artificial "value") of its availability and negotiating with them. If they don't even know that it's for sale, then it makes no difference where the sale takes place.

It's easily possible that a domain-name like that can be worth ten times as much to one vendor as to another. That's normal, not exceptional.

(Speaking for myself, I wouldn't be able to market it for anything like 5-figures: I don't know where that view came from!).

Most of the time when people ask about their domains, I'd like to tell them to just burn them. I'm not going to estimate on how much wizzed.com would sell for, but it is definitely catchy and brandable so I'd list it on Sedo and wait until I got an offer that I was interested in - you definitely don't want to just let it expire!

I've got a tenner I'll give you for it, but I'll expect change.

Actually it is quite a decent catchy name so good luck with whatever you do with it.

When I first started out I use to make money buying and selling domains.

If you didn't develop this domain and sold it as is I believe that you could get about $200 for this domain name.

But if you built a news website like you were thinking and tried selling it I believe that you could get $1,000+.

You can brand that as a funny, yet useful site for adult bladder problems. Or for potty training for kids. There are lots of products, and those are both niches that can make you good money.

You would, of course, have to have some humor thrown in with the content, but that is easy enough.

    Good luck!

Make it a Joke-Sharing site similar to Pinterest, market it and THEN you have some value to ask for.

P.S. "JOKE" just got in my mind when I saw the domain name, can be anything else

It won't give you more money right now. If you don't want to keep this domain, so better build it a little bit and then sell it for good profit.

if you can find someone who is willing to buy if for that much of an amount, then you are lucky, but it will be a lot easier to ensure that you get more value for this domain when you sell it, if you start building it to gain traffic and regular followers now.

Typically, I would agree. One could market any domain name and be successful. "holycraplookrobots" can be marketed just as easy as a name created from banging your fist into the keyboard a few times: "agaethrf".

However, having a 1 word domain is very very rare. "wizzed" is not a real word, but it's catchy and simple and easy to remember. This (possibly/maybe) adds value.

Some cause-oriented hackers recently hacked one of my websites. So I researched what they're about and then donated a large sum of money to the entity they hate the most.

The next time they hack one of my websites I'm going to donate DOUBLE.

Make a series of videos of a guy dressed as a wizard that does pranks or whatever and beats up friends ala jackass and post to youtube. Hopefully will go viral. Use domain name as youtube channel name. Have a footer that says exclusive content at wizzed.com or something. Sell personalized stuff with zazzle.com or cafe press and use adsense.

A domain name is worth its value by the traffic you have there and not in the fancy two or three letter word if that word is not already popular that it comes in everyone's mouth.
Perhaps the aging too make a value.
I have a website which is more than 20 letters that is more popular than others that are just easily memorable but not that worth.

The domain registrars sell websites like crazy for fancy names and there are a number of them which make use of the ignorance of the buyers!

I have many times found that a domain name one registrar asking 500$ but another will ask the nominal $10! How does it happen I don't know. There no control on the domain pricing so far. Competition controls!

According to urbandictionary.com the meaning of wizzed is:

The biggest stage of being "high." Made from the rapper Wiz Khalifa and how much weed he smokes.

    Stages:
    -High
    -Stoned
    -Baked
    -Ripped
    -Hashed
    -Wizzed

"how much weed did you smoke?" "I smoked 10 joints, I'm so wizzed"

I wouldn't sell the name like that. It's fun, catchy, memorable, simple and there are plenty of things that can be done with that name to generate more money than one time income from selling the name.
