Has my site been Hacked?

Gday warriors, please help,

Every time I try to get to my blog by pressing on a link or typing in the domain name in the Serps, this is what I get.

Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /index.php on this server.

Additionally, a 403 Forbidden error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Please don't tell me my site has been hacked.

Can any warrior suggest whats happen and more importantly help me fix this problem.

A years worth of hard work is at stake. Please warriors I'm losing my mind.

    Sounds like a case of weak permissions and I won't tell you you have been hacked since you ask us to please not to.

    The word hijacked does come to mind though

    This is something you may have to ask your host to help with

      Thanks Troy, I was hoping my host was doing maintenance on the servers, but it looks like I've been hacked and a years worth of work has gone down the drain.

      Why would people do this?

        Sadly some people do not have anything better to do . There is no logical reason for something like this .

        Maybe your host can get you back online and the person ( I can think of better names ) that has hijacked you only restricted admittance .

        Remember to back up your data often.

        You can get the data back from Google cache or Webarchive.

      Gday Milan and James,

      Thanks for your input, but to say I'm a technical moron would be an understatement.

      I've contacted my hosting provider and judging by their response I've crashed the server.

      This is likely because I've been experimenting with reddit, digg and propeller all at once. LOL

      The only thing I'm worried about is that I haven't backed anything up on this blog.

      Like I said a years worth of work is riding on this.

      P.S James once I resolve this I would like to purchase your security system. I don't think I can go through this again. This could be the worst feeling in the world.

      Milan my man, when you get a chance, would you like to attempt the installation again?
      I'm at work at the moment, maybe later on today?

    I don't think your site has been hacked. This kind of problem can occur when your web Host updates the server's software that ends up changing your files ownership or permission. Ask your web host to look into this for you.

    What hosting do you have?
    If your hosting is with Hostgator....Hostgator AUTOMATICALLY backs-up your website for you once a week....every Sunday I believe, so you would not have a years worth of work lost forever...maybe a weeks worth tops. All is not lost...

    Other host's may also back up regularly...I am only familiar with hostgator....but it definately would be worth a try contacting your host to see.

      Thanks to all that offered advice.

      Hostgator have worked it out for me.

      Lesson learnt- experimenting with Digg, propeller and reddit in one night is a big no,no.

      Crashed my server, hostgator have uploaded a plug in which reduces the strain of social bookmarking traffic when it comes flooding in.

      Take 2 perhaps, LOL
