Changing Domain Names?

I have a website that I purchased. It is not listed in the SE's yet and I would like to change the domain and name. Will this hurt my listings chances? Would this trigger some kind of duplicate penalty from the SE's?

It won't hurt your "listings chances" in any way, but it will lose any juice it may have under the previous domain. If you're moving the content to the new domain, redirect the links from the old to the new with a "permanent redirect". Google that if you need to know how. That tells Google it has a new home.

I agree with everything said above.

If you're using WP, just copy everything over with FTP or a file manager.

If its not listed in the SERPS yet thats fine but if it was listed google will take some time to adjust their servers to the changes but they would notice the change and would not give you any duplicate penalty.
