Hi all!

Has anyone come across any top advice on how to promote a wordpress premium plugin?? Together with a couple of friends I created the Purple Heart Ratin Plugin for Wordpress.

While the creation part was relatively easy, the marketing part, as so many times, prooves to be more challenging.

I see that Wordpress features some plugins on their plugins site. Any idea on how to get there?

I am fairly certain all the plugins they feature are free ones (I could be wrong though). It might be a good idea for you to create a free basic version of your plugin and get it into the Wordpress plugin directory. Inside the plugin allow them to upgrade to a pro version that has more features.

I'm also confused by the name and don't know what the purple heart means nor will your prospects. From what I can see it's just a ratings type plugin so I would probably try and make the name of it a big more straightforward so people don't need to guess as to what it is and what it will do for them.

You might also consider doing a WSO on this very forum to get the ball rolling. Offer a nice discount to help get word out and get people started using the plugin.

  You're on the right track. Once you get approved by wordpress things will get easier. I would do a search on marketing here to get some other ideas.

WordPress only features free plugins. But they do have a commercial section of their website: WordPress › Free WordPress Themes
