Hello, looks like somebody just flagged one of my Video as spam?,which is not, probably competition, and I got my entire Account locked. So much for spending months and months of work uploading videos. Now looks like according to Google TOS first block is for period of 6 month? Just like that? Didn't do anything wrong. There is about 100's of the similar Videos on that niche on youtube I get flagged for.. Any advice? So much work just lost. Curious If my account gets highjacked cause I was force to verify my phone number for "unusual activity" and still nothing.

I didn't know that flagging a video will block the account

There is probably more to the situation than just one person flagging one of your videos, which resulted in your account locked. Your video(s) (or promotion tactics) may have been regarded as spammy, regardless of your opinion on the matter. Also, the fact that there are 100's of similar Videos on that niche on YouTube does not mean that they are not inline to receive similar treatment.

Hey WizBiz I have gone through the same thing in the past with YouTube, and it could be what Arnold said about Youtube seeing your video as being spammy at least that was the case with me, even though that wasn't the case. The best I can tell you is do what I did which was open a new gmail account just for YouTube and watch how you create your videos a little bit better. I hope this helps

I had that happen to me too!! It seriously was only ONE video and it was a video that I made myself with my own computer doing a screencast. And it was a competitor that tagged it. Boom - everything gone. (I literally have a friend who has a friend in "high places" at Google/YouTube who confirmed this for me. ONE video tagged by a competitor and it shut the whole account down.)

      This is what I did:

Step #1: Draft a professional letter to Google and request that your account be reinstated. Provide links to similar videos on accounts that are still active. Agree to allow the "flagged" video to remain removed.

Step #2: Set up an account on DailyMotion.com and upload ALL of your videos there.

Step #3 - this one protects you from losing everything in one shot:
      • Set up multiple new YouTube accounts with new gmails.
      • Use each new account for a specific category of videos

For example, after I lost everything on my primary account, I added three new accounts and uploaded my videos to the different accounts depending on what they were.

Then I created an intro video and loaded it into each new account as the feature video for a while:

Step #4: Set up an account over on Amazon Amazon S3, Cloud Computing Storage for Files, Images, Videos and upload ALL of your videos there too as a backup.

      Hope this helps!

Not so. In my letter to Google, I literally "threatened" them with Defamation of Character for using that page when they shut down my account.

One of my YouTube subscribers is a film producer with some clout who pulled some strings to find out that I only pissed off ONE jealous person who tagged ONE video that was in competition with his. And the reason it was tagged was literally false information to begin with.

I was LIVID. The film producer was LIVID because he'd just linked a prominent blog post to one of my videos and now it made HIM look bad!

Seriously, I know from personal experience, you only need to piss off ONE person and it can happen to anyone. And then Google slaps up that generic 'one size fits all' Suspended page.

Depending on what type of character you have or you're trying to build, that one page can ruin you!
