Anyone got experience with classified ads?

I bought a gig on fiverr to have my ad posted to 5500 classifieds. I know this is a free form of traffic so i'm not expecting miracles and it will take time to see a return.

Just wondering how long??

I know there's a couple of threads going on at the moment asking for there experiences with fiverr.

I may as-well post mine here where it wont get lost.

I have bought two gigs, one was for traffic. This was absolute crap nothing but bots, 50 a day and not a single lead on a high converting squeeze page. He had really good rating too so you cant even go off that.

The second one was a key-word rich article, this one went way beyond my expectations. You could tell he was a professional writer. When I asked him why he was doing this for only $5 dollars he said it was just to get his rating high. Shame he's not there now

...just take a good look at the reviews on there because having lots of positive ratings does not mean there legit.

It is true that we can't fully rely on reviews because we have different experiences. There will be times we'll be lucky to get someone good from Fiverr but there will also be times we're not lucky enough. We'll just have to learn from that experience and do better next time. We all experience something undesirable because it's just like gambling. One thing for sure though, we should not risk anything we cannot afford to lose.

I've tried posting on free classified ads in the past but the results were very poor. I never bought packages. Also, I had ONLY bad experiences with fiver gigs (fake traffic, etc). In your case..I would be more worried about the fiver thing.. Getting 5500 bad backlinks to your site can do more harm than good. Even this will bring you a few visitors, it may get your site penalized or even banned in google.

Classified sites, especially Craigslist has never worked for me in the UK.
It is worth testing different ad copy though.
I tried Gumtree once and it got me a client so may use that more.
