Marketer Promotes Weight Loss Product To IM List?

I think I just saw what some may regard as the unthinkable.

I'm on this marketer's Internet marketing list, and just saw him promote a weight loss Clickbank product to his list.

Now that's pretty freaking amazing.

Maybe he is even going to make a killing out of it

Or maybe he realises that most IM'ers sit on their ass all day and get IM gut/butt .. lol

Exactly Jay - it's probably one of the most well suited demographics!

Mike Geary (TruthAboutAbs.com) says that his top affiliates make the most money from promoting the product through semi/non related contextual websites.

IE - sites about shopping, dating, gardening, womens issues, crossword puzzles...

...why? Because who doesn't want to lose weight and have a flat stomach?

Unless IM'ers are immune to belly fat (which I don't think they are) then it makes sense.

However, I do see why you'd be taken back by it. After all, it's not common practice to promote products totally unrelated to the lists' core interests/reasons for being on your list.

But hey, if you're a true friend to your list, then why not help em shed some tub?

I think this is ok as long as it is not abused or you will risk losing subscribers...

I do cross promote every once in a while....for example, my main niche is teachers...however, about twice a year I promote a weight loss product or two (usually around New Year's resolution time, and getting ready for summer-time).

I also, promote a stress relief ecourse to my teacher lists as well.

I'll even promote some IM products just before summer as many teachers are looking for 2nd jobs during the summer.

Stress relief, and weight loss seem like niches that can be promoted to other niches...again, as long as it is not abused...

Joe Vitale promoted a weight-loss deal to his list a couple of years back. Don't know what the results were.

Weight loss is pretty much universal. And so is "make money."

I did a mailing to my internet marketing and weight loss lists earlier and I was worried I'd mixed it up and was the subject of this thread.

I would never cross promote to my lists even if they may
need to lose weight

I did one time send out an email to my IM list from one
of my niche pen names by accident and people freaked out
and said that "some lady" had hijacked my list since it was
coming from her email address.

The smart people on my list discovered one of my niches
that day!

You're probably referring to the GetGoogleAdsFree.com people. They own a bunch of CB products under different titles and definitely cross promote everything to everyone. Not sure why, but they definitely do.
