Is facebook commerce in it's infancy or dead?

I have done some reading on this subject and some blogs claim that facebook commerce has already blow up with rather poor results for businesses and has since gone down hill and is pretty much dead. Others have said that although this sort of did occur with many businesses who tried it, that facebook stores are still in their infancy and that over the next few years it will become as popular as standard website retail / ebay / amazon.

What do you guys think, which do you agree with or do you have a different opinion?

Thanks.

Every tool, whether it's a social media marketing platform or not, can give you massive positive results if used properly. I suspect that those people who said that Facebook commerce is going down hill have either given up due to lack of perseverance in what they do or they've just assumed that social media marketing won't work for them without even testing it.

We're getting sales from our social media marketing campaigns through Facebook.

I believe their will be a facebook opensource clone that will become popular in the near future. One that allows you to port over your connections etc... As FB becomes more imposing on users with NSA stuff and monetization efforts, it will reach a point where people will jump ship for an open source alternative. People jumped from friendster, myspace quickly and it can happen again when a better alternative comes about.

a kimdotcom type would have enough notoriety to get the migration started. Just read he is launching secure encrypted email platform.
