Where have I gone wrong?

Hi

Just wondered if anyone recognises this problem and if they know where I might've gone wrong.

I have a blog which has around 16 pages of articles. I have bookmarked them all and churned out lots of articles to directories, squidoos, forums and other web2.0 linking back to the homepage.

The thing is, I have noticed that when I type my main keyword/s into google, only one of my pages gets indexed at a time alternating each time with a different page of my blog, and that page is never higher than around page 30. (it's been up for over 3 months)

I have done quite a bit of promotion and I think I have perhaps gone wrong somewhere in the seo of the blog. I'm wondering why my homepage is not the page that is indexed and why it isn't a little higher in the serps.

It sort of feels like every bit of promotion I do gets diluted amongst the pages of my site . Does anyone recognise whats happened here?

Any help appreciated.

You're well on your way if you're on page 30. But I would suggest paying closer attention to your on-page keywords. Make sure they are appearing where they give you the most bang for the buck... in your title, your first sentence, your second paragraph, once more somewhere in the middle, and once at the very end. So about 5 times in a 500 word article (once every 100 words or so) but make sure they are in those specific spots I mentioned.

What is your blog address, I can take a look and see if there is anything offhand.

Also do you have an xml sitemap submitted to google?

If you're using Wordpress on your own domain, you need several plugins that will help tremendously:

The All In One SEO Pack (this enables you to provide meta tags and keywords to every one of your posts, and turns generic page URLs to URLs that follow the title of your article)
        WordPress › WordPress Plugins

Google Sitemap Generator (quick, easy and painless way to build a Google Sitemap. Don't forget to go to Google Webmaster Tools (get a Google account if you don't have one - free) and provide your sitemap details so Google can verify it.
        generator/

        This should help.

Whoops, sorry. I think I got that wrong.

I don't think it's the SEO Service Pack that makes your URLs follow your article titles. You have to set it in your Permalinks. If I remember correctly, it's the last option on your Permalinks window, enter %postname%
