Default What methods are there to lower BOUNCE RATE

Hey,

I was wondering what type of methods you can use to lower your bounce rate?

I never really looked into it, but obviously an extra set of emails won't hurt my products/services.

Thanks,

Steve

The best thing you can do is ensure that the content on your site exactly matches the search terms that bring the visitor.

If you are able to answer the searcher's question or fill a searcher's need it is much easier to keep them on your site.

The biggest thing I have discovered to combat a high bounce rate is to simply add more relevant content to the site. If you you are getting traffic from a certain "like" set of search terms, create another page on your site that deals specifically with what these searches have been for.

Steve, one thing that will virtually eliminate bounces is to make sure you are only sending to double opted-in lists. I typically get only 1 or 2 bounces per about 10K emails sent, and these are usually more of the soft bounces when a server is down or something like that. I am sure this is due to the fact that I am only sending to confirmed emails.

Combine this with only sending relevant and useful content, and bounces will never be an issue.

Confirm people who opt in to your list for starters.

Remove bounces if the reason is the email address in question no longer exists. (sometimes they bounce because the mailbox if full, so you have to read the reason for bouncing).

Check and make sure you're not on spam lists, and check your messages so they don't get flagged as spam (you get that, you'll get lots of bounces).

Those are a few I can think of right off the top of my head. I'm sure there is lots more.

It's ironic - and I don't know what exactly causes bouncing
in all cases - but longer emails get lower spam ratings with
spam assassin and I believe are more likely to get delivered.

SO - you may want to explore writing longer emails and see
if that bumps your response. It may be counter-intuitive
but test it for yourself and see.
