Where to find a blogging mentor.

I just set up a blog more than a month ago, and I have around 25 posts there. However, I've gotten very little traffic.

I'd like to have a mentor who can critique my writing and seo, so I can make changes to my already existing blog posts, and blog posts I will write in the future.

None. Should I focus on link building or blog posting?

What is any easy way to get links from other quality sites? I have this problem as well on one of my sites. I'm a web developer and I'm working on getting traffic to one of the sites.

Any advice would help! Thank you

You say "however" as if you expected something different?

Posting content just on your own site is not normally much of a traffic-generating activity. The only traffic that can ever generate, in and of itself, is some eventual search-engine traffic (not exactly high-quality traffic anyway, usually).

If your intention is to use your content to generate traffic to your blog, then you perhaps need to have it published (additionally/subsequently) in places other than on your own blog, i.e. where the targeted traffic you seek to attract is already reading/visiting? This is called article marketing, and it is a traffic-generating plan (and one that transcends SEO and can attract floods of targeted traffic, which is why large and increasing numbers of Warriors are making their livings primarily in this way). "Just saying"!

Probably on blog posting, but it's what you do additionally with the content after publishing it yourself that may help you much more. All link building can attract is SEO traffic, by gradually increasing your rankings. But getting your articles published (with a link) in other relevant places (I'm not talking about article directories) can do the link-building for you anyway - and better and more safely than any "artificial" methods of link-building.

This. Posting articles on your site and doing NOTHING else isn't a strategy (or atleast an effective strategy).

You must be proactive in promoting your site if you want to attract endless quality traffic to your blog.

Thank you so much Alexa. It's just the information that I need to get me going in the right direction.

Which article directories would you recommend that I start using. Would you advice against posting the same article on my blog and other article directories? Thank you

I have taken Alexa Smith's advice as well. You should go with EZA and stick with it. Post your articles on your blog first then post to EZA after.

Ok great. Do i need their premium membership right away? I definitely will get it eventually.

edit: Also, I have nothing on my site except blog posts. Should I focus on creating an optin offer first before I start posting on EZA? Thanks

Blogging to make the money in my opinion is a VERY VERY tough way to make money online.

So if you're blogging for FUN. Then go ahead.

If you're trying to make money. Then drop blogging, until later.. And focus on creating a great offer.

What do you mean exactly by an offer? Like: "Join my list and receive a free ebook"?

The Sales Booster is right: Go buy Derek Halpern's course "Blog That Converts." Introducing Blog that Converts (Non-affiliate link) He's closing the offer in 3 days, so if you're serious, go get it!

I've never purchased from him, but if I were trying to do this, I'd buy it in a heartbeat. I've been on his list for a while and he makes a lot of sense. I love how he points out that most people think that creating MORE content will help build their blog.

Ummm... No. Promoting what you've already got is what will grow your blog. Stop putting out more content on a blog that nobody's reading!

All of that said though, I really don't understand why "bloggers" try to make money with "blogging." A basic business makes money by selling a product or a service. Period.

"Blogging" is NOT a business or a business model.

Blogging is simply a by-product, a content-marketing, relationship-building strategy. It's a good, core strategy. But a "slow and steady" method, NOT generally something that's going to bring in a lot of money right away or consistently, if at all.

The general "make money online" process is:

Traffic > Opt-In Page > E-zine > Sales Page The e-zine is what builds the crucial relationship.

My own mentor stressed to us that the actual conversion (sales) typically happens in 1) a solo e-mail, 2) on a teleseminar/webinar and 3) direct mail marketing (like simple postcards).

So basically, you've got a 3-step process: 1) build a list of targeted prospects, 2) build a relationship with them and 3) sell them something! (via a solo e-mail, teleseminar/webinar or direct mail).

That's the most direct route and is very measurable. Content marketing (i.e. blogging) is the "soft sell", the indirect route. It's the side dish to the main course. But you still have to have something to sell!

When people ask how they can make money blogging, they're really saying "I have no idea what business I'm REALLY in and have no clear business model!"

Please go get Derek's course and then implement it! Your dreams are worth it. Take them seriously.

                  Hope that helps!

No, you definitely don't need it right away. I've never been a Premium member, and am not convinced at all that it's worth paying for, for most people.

Yes ... because you wouldn't want to be attracting "article marketing traffic" to your site and not opting any of them in. But it's quite a big job, with a learning-curve all of its own: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post6123982

But please appreciate that submitting articles to EZA isn't really "article marketing". EZA can have a role in article marketing, it's true, but it's a very minor, afterthought role only. All it is is a way of trying to get some additional passive syndication, after everything else you've done with your articles. Don't imagine that just publishing your posts on your site and then submitting them to EZA is a way of "doing article marketing", because it isn't, at all. Nor is it a way of getting traffic!

            Explained here: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post8325114

And this post and its links will help you, about "article directories" in general: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...ml#post5068872

A month is actually a pretty short time in a blog's lifespan. I find that blogs need to stick around for a couple of years before they start to build some serious authority.

You'll want to make sure that your blog posts are good, useful and relevant.

You'll want to share them tactfully on social media and online communities and forums.

You could've posted your blog here, you know! Get into the habit of being comfortable sharing your stuff.

Identify who the important content aggregators are in your field, and make friends with them.

Lots of things you can do. At this early stage, it's a little unlikely that you'll find a mentor who's willing to spend a lot of time with you unless they see something promising about you... but you shouldn't take my word for it, you never know what you'll get with persistence and ingenuity.

    Good luck.

a month is not nearly long enough for a blog to fully prosper, so continue to work on those quality contents and syndicate as much of your posts as you can, you will probably see some results in a few months or so.

    good luck!

I don't think you should focus on SEO at all.

Aim to give as much value as possible to a reader, make it as epic as possible for that one particular person. Traffic wouldn't be an issue if you just participate in the community, forums, commenting on blogs, etc.

Stuff like SEO should come later. It costs a lot of money to pull off good SEO

Blogging alone isn't much of a business strategy and (as you're finding out) it takes quite a while to build up an audience, reasonable amounts of traffic, etc.

Alexa makes the point of getting your writing out there in places that already have traffic. That's true, although I'd recommend finding others that already have an audience and connecting in your niche rather than posting randomly to article directories.
