Bought a website with Adsense, what is the process of transferring?

Hi everyone,

I have bought a website that makes over 300 USD / mo with Adsense. If I understand correctly Google does not allow to sell or transfer Adsense accounts.

Has anyone had a similar problem before? Should I open a new account with them and ask the seller to delete or close his account?

Any ideas on what is the best solution?

Thanks

Have you not already got an adsense account? if not, you need to open one as soon as possible. You may be losing out on adsense revenue.

    Hi Lee,

Unfortunately I don't and I am setting one up right now. I have added that the URL will be my new website, that is already associated with the sellers account. I think that could create problems, as google would see a new account on a URL that exists on their system? Thus, should I ask the seller to delete the Adsense accoutn asap?

The seller will not delete or close his own account. If you have already paid for the site, it should now be under your control and on your own hosting and you should own the domain name. If that's not the case, there's something wrong.

I would have deleted the previous owner's adsense code from the site and then submitted the site to Google for approval for my own Adsense account, and if approved, then add my code in where the previous owners code had been.

You may not transfer the account directly, but you can change the bank account number.

If you bought the website, it's yours, not his. Why are you calling it other's website?

Yes, you can use an Adsense account in someone else's website if they allow it.

You bought his website but you did not buy his Adsense account. He can use his AdSense account for any other sites he owns and it would be completely unfair to expect him to close his account. I would ask him to remove his Adsense codes and tell Google that the site has been sold to you. I would then apply for a new AdSense account using the domain url.
