How Do you Promote New Posts?

I am looking for some help on promoting new posts. How do I build links and promote new posts? Do you add it to social bookmarking sites or use some software to automate? Thanks

    a) Internal links
    b) External links (social, ask friends to promote, etc)

Takes 5 seconds to write a different headline for social media, and 15 seconds to shoot an email to close friends asking them to promote my post.

  • I wouldn't use any automated software or anything. Add on buttons so readers can share it on Facebook, Twitter, Google+, LinkedIn and other sites. That's going to get you the best possible results.

Beyond that, once the post has been indexed, shoot a message off to any syndication partners you have (if you don't have any, look into getting some).

    Good Luck!

Try and find a site that republishes links and experts to blogs within your niche: preferably more than one. These can provide a nice extra boost that you can leverage if you can get them in a list or feed subscription.

Additionally adding social integration into your comments can help to spread the word.

To add to the good advice you already got: for $5 people at Fiverr will share your post with their hundreds or thousands of fans or followers at Facebook, Twitter or StumbleUpon. Not sure about how effective is this because I never tried it myself but I will use the service next week when I launch a site because I found some users whose audience are in the same niche than my site.

Browse their Online Marketing section and maybe you find something you like. Just a suggestion.

Social media is the way to go, when you need to get the word out.

But though I myself use the tools mentioned above, I always try to build my own community and establish relationships over time.

Great posts here. I usually will post a new blog comment, then: facebook, twitter, google+, with an interesting headline. I try to create audiences on FB/Twitter. Many times it is worth while to spend the $$ to promote a post if it will receive shares/likes. Share in many different Google+ Groups to get feedback. Create your own communities and maintain them.

the easiest way to promote new post via Facebook, Google+. Twitter. LinkedIn and so other social media.

Some people promote via auto generated software. But this has less output.

You may share via some website, but you need cost. Most of the people like Facebook for this option.

There's like a thousand different ways to promote new posts...

I use Facebook, share the link to the new posts in groups that are related to the topic, and then share it on my profile.

I also pin it, submit it to stumble upon, and reddit. Sending it through email is also a good idea, learn how to build a list of content syndicators, and then send it to them.

Hmmm... submit it as a guest post? some people don't mind if the article is already published on your website, ask first.

You can also.... create a video and post it on Youtube and other video hosting websites, etc.

There are a lot of different ways...

Here are useful ways in promoting your new posts:

    1. You need to accept the power of Social Media. It's one of the more stable and sure ways of promoting your post. Capitalize on the use of Facebook and Twitter.

    2. Take advantage of G+ (Google Plus), Pinterest, Reddit, StumbleUpon, Delicious, Digg, Designbump or even Instagram. Just google High PR Social Bookmarking Sites List 2013.

    3. Create accounts in free blog directories where you can submit your newly created post.

    4. Use Pinging tools (TotalPing, Pingoat, Pingomatic, Goggle Ping, Auto-Ping, Ping.in, Ping Sitemap, Blog Ping Tool, Pingler, PingGates)

    5. Join Forums and Blog communities

If you are a member of a niche forum that matches your blog's niche, then you could simply link to it from your signature line. Just post the title of your blog post in the signature line and link to the new blog post page. This could get more traffic than simply linking to your blog home page. The reason being the title will usually contain a solution to a problem some or many people on the niche forum are facing.

After you post on your blog, take the same key words you used for your post to look up other blogs on Google. This means their topic should be similar to yours. Read their post and post a genuine reply to their post.

Do this for 4 or 5 blogs and record the urls to you posts. Keep checking back to see if your reply has been approved.

Once your reply has been approved, go to 5 or 6 book marking sites and book mark you reply on the other blog.

When you have book marked 3 of your replies then book mark your original blog post. This will keep you from being band on the book marketing sites.

You need to post to your blog 3 to 5 times a week for 90 days. And for every post you need to reply on other blogs and do the same book marking process.

After a couple of hours after completing the process for one blog post, you will begin to see traffic. But after you have done this religiously for 90 days you will have all kinds of traffic.

This process is time consuming, but if you don't quit the traffic will come.

Another little tip is to form each of you blog post titles in the form of a question ending with a question mark. The search engines really like this for some unknown reason.

I hope this has been helpful,

    Hello

Well this is a question I used to ask my self over and over then some one showed me the best way to do this, It is with Email marketing you need to set up a squeeze page and get subscribers this is the global know way to do it. Since then I never looked back.

But other wise use blog commenting on high PR sites

    1. Build a list of followers (email, facebook, twitter).
    2. As soon as you make a post let know about your new article.
    3. Encourage them to like, tweet, g+, comment at the end of your post.

    And they will.

Whenever I post a new post to my blogs I go through the following routine give or take a few...

    Tell my own audience:
    - Email my list
    - SNAP plugin auto-posts to my social networks (FB / Twitter / Stumbleupon / G+ / whatever)
    - Publish to my own Scoop It, Rebel Mouse and Flipboard pages

    Syndicate / Suggest it:
    - To any blogging partners who sometimes accept my syndicated content
    - To Inbound.com
    - To Biz Sugar
    - To relevant Reddit groups.
    - To Kingged.com
    - To Scoop.it pages in my niche.
    - To Paper.li pages in my niche

    Repurpose it:
    - Turn into PDFs / Slides and share to Slideshare, Scribd and DocStoc.
    - Sometimes turn into video and add to YT.

    Outreach:
    - Update forum signatures to link to new post and make some useful posts.
    - Tweet influential people I know will be interested in it or referenced in and hope for a re-tweet.
    - Check my RSS feed and start blog commenting and IF there's an opportunity post a link where relevant.
    - Check my Google Alerts and do same as above.
    - Check who's linked to and shared similar posts to mines and them manually reach out to them to tell them I've just created something similar (and hopefully better) that they might want to check out.

Continually be networking with those in your nice both the influencers / key players AND the target audience and you'll do well if you have something worthwhile to talk about and don't try and ask for too much - if your content is junk and you just constantly spam and annoy people then forget about it.

I don't do anything special, and I'm ranked in the top 5 in Google for all my most relevant keywords. I have WordPress ping whatever blog post notifier it naturally does, and my sites are verified with Google Webmaster Tools with a sitemap attached. After a few months of this, plus posting weekly, Google automatically starts picking up all my new posts.

That's my SEO strategy: Purely content. And it works awesome.
Not sure why your site ranks highly in Google just because you ping it and have Google Webmaster Tool and a sitemap installed as this wouldn't work for most niches.

Google ranks sites based mainly on quality backlinks and authority (among other factors) so either you have lots of links and a certain degree of authority and don't realize or your niche is quite noncompetitive and not many other people are writing about it so it's easy to rank.

I like this strategy or regiment to use when promoting a new blog post. I just recently started doing some of the things that you mentioned here on your list, like reach out to influencers and share it on all of my social media platforms.

In terms of repurposing it, do you do that with all of your blog posts? I've been blogging from since July and I haven't been doing that currently. Is it "too late" to repurpose content that far back or it doesn't matter?

Is it ok if I use this regiment to use on all of my blog posts from here on out, I actually really like the whole process.

Step 1: Write an awesome blog post
Step 2: Send that blog post out to your email list
Step 3: Share the blog post with some people on Facebook (NO SPAMMING)
Step 4: Write up a quick snippet of the blog post on Google+ then link to the full thing
Step 5: Create a short YouTube video about said blog post link to the full post

Following the steps I took a blog post from not being on page one, to being on page one in less than 24 hours. Thank god it worked, because I made a video about how to do it, and if it didn't work well I was screwed lol

I've been sharing my blog posts on my Facebook fan page and then boosting them. I usually start out with a $10 boost to see what kind of reaction I get. If the reaction is good and I get a good cost per click and make sales from the blog post, get some opt-ins from the traffic, etc, I will boost again. If not I will let it be.

There are two ways to boost. You can boost the post so that just fans and friends of fans see it, or you can target the boost just as you would a Facebook ad. I have been picking the fans & friends of fans option as that is resulting in a much lower cost per click to my blog post and many more likes.

Just be careful when doing this. Start out with a small amount like $5 or $10 to test the response. If you get lots of clicks to the post, lots of likes and find that you made a few sales and got a few opt-ins then rinse & repeat. Not all posts are winners. I have had many posts that flopped. However, when you get a winner it usually makes up for that.

I think it goes without saying that your fan page should be in the same niche as your blog. I've found if you are going to do this you should try and write posts that you think your fans will like. It also helps to have a good call to action and image on your Facebook post. I usually do not use the images from my blog post, although if you have a good image then go ahead and try it. The best size for an image is 400 X 209 BTW. Those show up perfectly on news feeds. I've also found that memes work the best for your image.

You could do a short but completely new spiel for the post and enter that as a post into your Facebook timeline, and then share that with all the pages you manage in FB, and all related FB groups that allow you to post, as long as the niche relates. Also, you could do a quick post at pingler dot com which is a pinging service and is free of course.

This could be done in 2 ways in less time.

    1. Request some big fans pages (related to your niche) on FB to share your post, (if you don't have big page), treat the same with top Stumble users, reddit users, etc along with top twitter users.

    2. Secondly with social bookmarking tool with trusted accounts only.

    1) Google Plus
    2) FB Group
    3) Skype Group
    4) LinkedIn
    5) My email list

Results: Average social share >=20 per blog post. (Even though the gurus neglect me).

Social media sites, definitely. Try Facebook and Twitter and ask some friends to promote it, too.
