Could you try 1100X2350 ... I used to use this size when creating mini sites . G'day, Akky |

960 pixel width is pretty much standard... it fits in a 1024 x 768 monitor quite nicely without side scrolling.

I am currently attending the program at The Art Institute of Pittsburgh for my Bachelors of Science Degree in Web Design and Interactive Media. 960 pixels wide is pretty much a good standard width for Web Templates. Remember, most people still only use an 800x600, 1024x768, or 1280x1024 resolution. Therefore, anything wider than 960 pixels isn't going to display optimally for most visitors to your site. I hope this helps ![]() Best Regards, James | |

It somewhat depends on the type of website you're building and the market you're designing it for but, as others have said, 960px is a pretty safe bet. I always start there. I'm guessing those 4-5% of users running in 800x600 are pretty used to wider page layouts by now, and yet for whatever reason (I assume financial?) they haven't upgraded. Unrelated side note, I just checked the stats at Browser Statistics and see that IE6 usage is down to 15%. Woo! |

i hate side scrolling. its the worst thing there is. and i know a lot of other people who hates it as much, including my grandparents. so try avoiding making one that needs side scrolling to view the entire width of the page.
