Hello everyone,

I am wondering what your thoughts are on curating news articles for a website that sells information products.

For example, a 'how to play guitar website' curating news articles in order to attract a higher amount of traffic. Maybe curate some interviews, write when the latest albums are coming out and that kind of stuff.

It might be worth it, considering that some of them are people who maybe have the wish to start playing themselves...

On the other hand: there is the problem that you have something on your website that's just out of place.

The news can either become a part of the learning process (how to play guitar) or seem like something that just shouldn't be there.

What are your thoughts? :-)

Cheers,
Tijs

People do that all the time. The most successful ones don't just curate. They add original commentary that truly add personality to their content.

Listening to music is only distantly related to playing it.

Nearly everybody listens, only a small proportion of listeners want to play.

Love the idea. See it all the time and it works. The only question for you should ask is, "Would my 'target audience' be attracted to the content I am delivering?"

...if the answer is yes, then it is always worth testing!

        Tijs,

Your idea is a good one if the news you're curating is in the same field. General news won't help you attract the right crowd. But if you can find news and content in the niche, then I would think it's a great way to gather eyeballs to your info products.

        The best to you,

        Steve
