Since yesterday my website has displayed this message:

Service Temporarily Unavailable

The server closed the connection without sending any data.

The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems.

Due to heavy load on the server, connections may be temporarily blocked from locations that fetch an unusually high number of pages.

We apologize for the inconvenience.

How can I fix this? I am using 2freehosting.com as my host service, just for your info it worked fine yesterday

No, send a support ticket for the company were you host your site.

You'll find a link for the support in their site.

Is there an htaccess file there? If so, rename it. Does the site load? Try adding a blank index.html file and if the site loads with a blank page, there's a problem with your scripts.

I'd recommend paid hosting also, I mean, a hosting place with decent support & decent features can be had for the price of a sandwich...

Yes I had a .htaccess file and renamed it, it still hasn't changed anything. I also switched my free host service and it still doesn't work. I even reinstalled the entire file itself. It may just be server sided and fix automatically

If you can't afford $5 per month, you have bigger issues than making web sites.
It costs less than lunch for one day.

Free hosting can do that to you.

I am in no way against free hosting but the support is probably not there and unless your a linux whiz or pay a freelancer to manage that your going to have problems.
I do believe this to be the best free hoster though.

Do you have any skills if so network. I have given plenty of hosting away to people who did jobs for me, Like write an article or they would do links or something else.

I am all full with what I have though right now but I am sure you can find someone to network with to get a regular hosting account on someones reseller plan.

IPage is another EIG brand, same as HostGator now, which I'd avoid like a plague. I'd recommend MMD Hosting or StableHost. If you want good quality service, stay away from the "unlimited" everything services - I have yet to find unlimited disks and you'll find you're in fact limited pretty strictly in the fine print in the TOS.

You most likely haven't been moved to EIG datacenters yet. Trace your IP(s) and see where they are. I've actually been a customer of HostGator numerous times, since about 2003 or so - so yes, I'm entitled to an opinion.

Pretty much every customer from HostGator we've migrated in the past few weeks has taken an insane amount of time due to servers being up & down, network saturation, connection throttling etc. It's an EIG ballgame now, HostGator is not the same as it was 1-2 years ago.

My point is that with a paid service, there would be support available to troubleshoot with you rather than on a forum throwing shots in the dark when all we have is the little info you've provided..

Did you add the blank index.html file??

Can you take a screenshot of the error you're getting and link it here? The page I see, is the default page "default.php" which probably should be removed...

I have no idea why people still suggest that in 2013. It's terrible. It's not even the same "Hostgator" anymore, not since summer 2012, and is nothing more than an EIG brand now. There are better hosts.

Set a monitor on your site(s) for 1-5 minute intervals. Then, do the same after you get moved to Provo Utah, which I suspect, they won't tell you since that's how it went down with 80% of the people affected. The others were told they were getting an "upgrade" as a cover for a migration.

You're still in SoftLayer in Texas - they found out real quick when the other "upgrade" was screwed up and took the network offline in Provo a few weeks back.

The reason so many folks are "bashing" (such a silly word) EIG is precisely because they ARE NOT good hosts, and they hide behind "brands".

If you willingly use them, then good luck with that. You've been warned. If you ignore good advice, that's on you.

See you in 6 months, asking for a new host. Never fails to happen.

If it`s free hosting and you don`t have the cash to go into paid, just login to your cpanel or admin area of your hosting, copy the files and find another free provider to move your files onto.. then just redirect the nameservers for the domain..
