I recently decided I wanted to start working online. I know you need money to make money so this first week I wrote articles and made 150$. I don't want to spend all my time making 5$ an hour writing articles for other people. What do I do now? I don't want to start a project that won't make me money till the second or fifth year. I want to begin to create a passive income, something where I could make 5, 10, 20, 50$ a day eventually. Where do I start? I was considering a PLR site, but I would need to pay someone to create the website. What are my other options? I've heard about niche sites, PLR, and a few other things, but I don't know which route I should take.

Thanks for any advice/support!

    1. Learn all you can about a certain topic that you're passionate about.
    2. Launch a product or service resolving around it. May be an ebook or monthly sub site.
    3. Get more established marketers in your niche to promote your product.
    4. Build a buyers' list.
    5. Sell & resell

Not exactly passive and requires a bit of work upfront but it's by far the easiest and most effective method I know.

Creating a product is not as daunting a task as it might seem. You can start by creating short useful reports/info products that are full of valuable information. Pricing wise such prodcts can range from $7-37. I would suggest you keep your prices low at first before gradually increasing them while building your reputation.

Usually 15-20 pages of pure gold will suffice. You can easily complete one sch product within a day. Your experience as a writer will be useful.

So, writing articles does work for you. Great! Keep doing it!

Instead of writing an article for $5 you can as well write an article and sell it for $50.

There are millions of companies out there that need articles desperately. So, go and find a company that needs an article for example on their company blog and then offer to write that article.

Take it easy nba2kbeast, here's what I do to make money online.

    1. Find a product that's Awesome in your selected niche, meaning it will provide value to the one who buy it. The best is you use the product yourself too.
    2. Create a Landing page/squeeze page and giveaway a something for free ( must have value, not just random PLR products.)
    3. Collect emails from the landing page and provide more value to your list
    4. Promote REAL GOOD product to your list.

Forgive my bad enlgish, cause I am not a native english speaker...but I am making money with that. I know it's confusing when there are so many ways to make money online and you don't know which is the best to get started.

That's how I do it, it's not new but it works for me. If you find something that is better, go for it and keep focus on it until you make it work!! Good luck!

First of all, where did you make that $150?

I would stick with doing what you know. You must be good at article writing, so make an amazon or adsense site with your content, and pay a decent seo the 150 to rank you for your keyword. It's where most beginners start and once you have that one quality site bringing home some bacon, it becomes a nest egg and you can reinvest some profits into other projects once you strap your crampons on and climb that steep lurning curve

If you really want to create a passive income for you, maybe you should consider making a membership site, that you can keep growing over the years, and your income will grow with you. Make sure you provide the best content or service to your customers so that you can keep them for many years.

Set up your own site with wordpress (self-hosted though). Agree with the other comments about creating your own products and finding a niche that interests and excites you. Whatever you go into, build you list from day one and then provide them with value and quality!

A content providing service might be a good start.

I used to be in the content business and made more than $5 per article.

In fact, I've made as much as $20 per 500 words BUT...

I've heard you can make $40+ especially if you know where/how to look.

I would dedicate one day a week to writing content (could easily make $100)

And then spend the other 4+ days promoting your product and...

Putting $50-$100 a week into it (advertising, SEO, etc).

Just out of curiosity, where did you sell your articles? 150 bucks in a week doesn't sound bad at all for someone just starting out.

I sold my articles for $5 per 500 words to 2 members of the warrior forum. I wrote 31 articles, and Paypal took a cut.

Hey - if you have the natural ability and inclination to write then you have many opportunities to make money online if you are determined and persevere. I would say to get yourself a mentor/coach who has a proven plan. Many of them have blogging as part of their core strategy to obtain traffic and that seems like it would be a good fit for your skills. There are so many options out there - and when I started I wasted a lot of time, money, and energy because I didn't have any guidance or plan - I just went from one thing to another and never got anywhere. Congrats on making your first $150!

guru.com is a good place to start off if you want to write articles. You can choose gigs where they say they are interested in long term writers and gradually build up a portfolio of clients this way. You might have to write for a small amount for the first two or three gigs just to get good feedback. After that you can up the ante. If you are lucky enough to have English as your first language, that is a great selling point.

I would suggest you continue writing some articles to keep cash flow coming in. However, you can make more with your articles by writing for yourself. Create a resource box that points to a sign up page to build a list or a product you create.

Words are worth allot... Keep writing my friend and success will find you.

I don't blame you. (Though there might be some mileage in writing a different sort of article, for a different sort of customer with different needs, intentions and plans for articles, because they tend to pay much higher prices and return more often for more, too? You'd need your own website, though, for sure, to do that).

I'm not sure I really believe in "passive income".

Not very much, though (it's hardly a highly-skilled techie job - it can't be, if even someone like me could more or less manage it), and it would be a once-off cost which would continue to produce some income if you continue to promote and enhance the site? It's one option, anyway.

When I was in that position, in 2008, having been an "article writer" for a few months, I decided to start one or two niche sites of my own, intending to become "my own only customer" and use my own new articles, myself, for the same purposes that my clients had been using them for. After a few lean months, admittedly (because I didn't know what I was doing at first, and didn't really understand that "article marketing" and "article directory marketing" are two completely different things) it worked out pretty well for me. I'm obviously biased by my own experience (aren't we all?) but I think it's a good option for people who can write. This is (most of) what I've been doing since then, if it helps.
