Is buying expired High PR domains with it?

Hi guys,

For the normal domain price of around $10, do you think buying high PR domains which are expired, worth it?

Yes they are, but if the domain doesn't have any valuable content, then the links from it won't weigh that much. This worked great 2 years ago, but now considered another blackhat method in Google's eyes if the domain has no real content.

If you get a high PR domain, turn it into a blog and create some good content on it before linking to anywhere.

No it's not. PR is updated dynamically by Google, they only release these ratings once in a while. In other words simply because it displays PR6, it doesn't mean that it's links will be of any value whatsoever.

If existing PR is the only value proposition and there is nothing else about the domain that is worthwhile, then "no," I don't think it's worth buying.

Was the expired domain in the same niche as you are going to deploy it?

Is there viable content associated with the domain?

If not, the PR will be gone quickly and you will be left with nothing more than an expired domain.

PR is relevant to pages and not really an indicator of intrinsic domain value.

      Good luck in your search,

      Steve

If it is aged and High PR with quality links, then it's worth it. But there are some more things to be concerned about

You can do it, but I've found that in the long run, the domain that you choose to purchase in today's SEO world does NOT really make that much of a difference.

As long as you post high quality, relevant content on a regular basis, and build high quality backlinks, your site will rank well, regardless.

A legit high PR domain should have a decent amount of residual traffic from previous development. That's the only factor PR plays in deciding to buy the domain.

If you're after linkjuice, it's not going to happen. Google resets it at some point after expiration even though toolbar PR seems to be intact.

It is completely worth it if done right since you can then monetize the domain in many ways. Just do your homework and make sure you look at all the data you can on each domain you are interested in. Don't be afraid to ask others for help as well.
