Hello Warriors,

I'm struggling to write Review Articles. I've read quite a few "tips" on writing articles on the WF, however, it still takes me hours to write a 500 word review or a comparison review on a product. Does anyone have a tried and tested "template" or an "outline" for writing reviews that has brought in sales, that I can reference?

Your help is appreciated.

Just divide the article into certain sections.

    For example...

    1. Overview
    2. Pros
    3. Cons
    4. Conclusion

Something like that. Of course, it depends on what you are reviewing. Comparison reviews work great also. If all else fails, consider hiring a writer.

    I hope that helped.

  • Tim is right. The best way is to break it up into sections and attack them individually. You can also look at existing reviews on Amazon and try to emulate their style.

Or, hire a professional to write them for you!

I have a template for writing product reviews (for Amazon and Clickbank products).
However, you won't be able to justify each sub-heading with 500 words alone.
It has to be 800 up to 1,000 or even 1,200 words.

YourOnlyWriter - Would you be willing to share your template? I'm willing to write longer articles.

The key thing you are seeing in the responses so far is to outline! Spend the time to get your headline right before you write the article. Then get specific and write your sub heads for the article in the outline. I use this method and it keeps me from wandering all over the place in an article.

        For example:

        Topic: iPhone 5s

Headline: Should you wait in line for the next iPhone?

        1. What's new?

        2. Three things that make this phone stand out

        3. What I don't like

        4. Summary

When I get stuck, I actually make all my sub headlines questions. Answering questions makes writing easier (for me!). You can always go back and change your sub heads after you write it.

PM me. My template is one of my "silver bullets" in my content writing business so I just don't want to lay down my cards in public unguarded. I hope you and others understand. :p

I find it very interesting that so many of you use outlines before writing your pieces.

I personally find that to be stifling, hard to let my creativity flow that way.

For me, I either know inside and out what I'm writing about or I study and find out. Once I have all of that in my little noggin, haha, I sit down and write creatively. I already know the points I want to make, but I don't list them in order first. I let the creativity flow and put them in where the writing leads. The piece always has a much smoother flow that way and isn't a choppy, stifling read.

Ha! I don't even title my piece until I've completed it. I find as I read through the finished piece, the title pops into my brain and I get the perfect title that way.

Ah well, it's as they say...Variety is the spice of life.

The way I do it is think of what YOU'D look for in a product.
    E.g. Headphones:

    Price:
    Style:
    Sound Quality:
    Durability:
    Fit:
    Ease of use:

Usually my reviews are like 1200 words long, and are written in half an hour?

When I write a review on a product I make sure the first few sentences are very interested and pull the customer in. I then go over the features of the product, price, pros, cons, etc. It takes practice to write good reviews. The more you write them the better you will be at it.

Are you reviewing products you've actually tried?

When I write reviews, I do begin with an outline for the technical information, but I start the review with words that place the breadmaker in your kitchen waking you up to the spicy, sweet smell of homemade cinnamon bread. I create other visuals throughout the review to break up the long, boring monotony of size, weight, price, etc. I try to suggest other uses for the product if possible. I've been able to create reviews in 500 - 600 words.

I think that is part of the solution, I need a way to draw in the audience. (By the way that cinnamon bread sounds real good about now.) For people who don't have the writing "gift" it isn't easy.

If you believe in the product then you can write a much longer review than 500 words. However, if your only purpose for reviewing is to generate an affiliate sale then you must think just like sales copy. Review the products sales copy.

What problem does the product solve? Surely there are other reviews of the product. If you don't have any first hand knowledge of a certain product then get ideas from other reviews on that product.

    Best Of Luck,

    Tommy
