We're launching this software on September 9th. You can see a video walk through at PDF Pop-Up Pro It's a software that allows the user to add pop-up boxes to pdf files that will display when opening and closing the pdf. The coolest part is that we've been able to insert a newsletter opt-in form into the pop up boxes, which will allow your readers to sign up to your autoresponder directly inside of the PDF. We need 10 beta testers to look over the software and locate any bugs that we haven't found. We'll send you a complete working version with a temporary registration key. If this sounds like something you can help with, and if you'd like to put a testimonial on the main page, please reply here with a working email address or send me a PM with it, so I can give you a registration key and a download link to the software. Thank you! (Windows only, sorry Mac) Edited: All Beta Testers Will Get a Fully Functional Copy of the Software to Keep |

Nice idea.... but by now you have to realise that most people see pop-ups as annoying and not to mention it runs the risk of hosting potentially dangerous content. I hardly ever click on a pop-up that looks like a system message. To be honest I haven't clicked on a pop-up for over a year and a half. People get bombarded with it so many times, that it is VERY suspicious... you could be accessing a site that will literally be full of viruses or even worse things. People know this. People with Norton and ESET Security like I have, will tell me that it could potentially contain harmful content. If I were you, I would make the pop-up really friendly looking. It needs to look non-system message like. |

It might help if you use a video which shows what the software will do for users. After 45 seconds of black screen and you saying hello followed by a shot showing a MS warning popup I gave up on your video (in that 45 seconds you should have shown a proper popup and explained at east one benefit - e.g. how an opt-in form opened by a viral pdf file will improve opt-in rates)... Why don't you upload a pdf with a fully functional popup? There's nothing like looking at the "real thing". If it works with OpenOffice I'll test your software. |

Cool idea. I think what is stopping beta testers is this line "We'll send you a complete working version with a temporary registration key. (Unfortunately we will not be giving this away to beta testers... we need real helpers, not someone looking for a handout)" Sad but true. On the flip side I'm sure people are asking "What's in it for me?" Why should someone do testing, spend their time, and get nothing in return? I'm sure a few will help no matter what but getting people to test is hard. They want some kind of reward for doing it. Perhaps you could give a license to "active" beta testers only, those that have actually helped. Perhaps you could give them another incentive if not a license. Just a thought. |

Here's a working PDF file to see the pop-ups that I made in the video. http://www.pdfpup.com/testpdf.pdf It will not work with OpenOffice IF YOU ENCRYPT IT. Password protected in other words does not work... However, we'll be able to do this in the near future.

Hi Steve, Sorry about my harsh reply, but I don't like videos which waste time... I firmly believe marketers should produce videos under the assumption it costs over $10000 per minute to produce them. I have sent you a PM with regards to the PDF sample... |

On my system, XP, I think I've found a bug already... With the test pdf you posted, the first one did as designed... The second did as well, except for one thing... It left an acrobat instance running, and I had to alt-f4 to close it, I could not close it from the taskbar. Be Well! ECS Dave |

You should download the file and then open it (don't open it in your browser or the On Close event is not fired )

I will beta test the pdf. I am interested to see if it works fully functional with my 'very' special version of windows xp pro. ---> Fact is my windows has been modified a lot. Would be nice to see if it works. |
