Is there any there, there - opportunity wise?

Greetings All,

Allow me to have the honor of asking what may be the stoopidest question ever asked on this forum.

I am in the final stages of launching a 6,000 multisite network with a site made for each of the 6,000 largest cities in the US. The site is political in nature. A competing/complimenting (depending on how you look at it) 6,000 site network will be following shortly behind this launch.

I will be spending heavily to market and promote these sites. I am inserting all of my own ads for things I promote.

My question is, as these sites very slow gain attention, is there any one thing that I should be doing to get off the ground? If I could make 10¢ per month off each site, I'd be a happy camper. lol

Any suggestions for a total recruit would be greatly appreciated. Please don't try to sell me anything. I've already spent many thousands of dollars and I'm just about finished spending money. :-)

Cheers. - Frank

Aside from promoting your own ads in those 6000 sites, do you have plans of advertising affiliate products, too? AdSense perhaps?

Greetings. Thanks so much for responding.

I have no plans at all. That's what this post is about. :-) I'm new at this and just seeing what's out there. I figured that at least here, I would get some trustworthy input.

When I do my hard launch with the associated advertising, I do think these sites will attract a lot of eyeballs. Not trying to be coy, but I'm just a few weeks away from spilling the beans. I've held out from telling this long so I'm not going to spoil it now. :-)

      Thanks, again.

      Cheers. - Frank

Spending money, I have a solution for you, you should pay ME for this ______ kidding... :p

As mentioned adsense/affiliate products would probably be your best bet...

Or, this will take time and research, but if you can segment lets say 10- 100 of those sites that are in the same niche and optimize them the point they gain a page rank of 2+ you can use them as a private network to sell SEO services blog comment backlinks, home page links, or even guest posts...

    Big Frank,

In my humble opinion, the best thing you can do for your network of sites is to drive as much targeted traffic to them as possible. Monetization by advertising is pretty much dependent on incoming traffic.

Also, I would suggest that you get beyond the numbers logic game regarding the theory that if you make some tiny amount off enough sites every day/week/month - the sheer numbers will make you a fortune. I think you're going to find that many sites won't make a penny at all, maybe for a very long time.

I'd be interested to know how much niche research and market testing went into your decision to enter the political market? It's not something I would have the guts to do. Also, I'm wondering if this market spends money on ads to any degree?

I hope you have tons of success,

    Steve

Well, I was being facetious. I'm an old man and am aware of the realities. :-)

Absolutely none. lol This network has not been created to make money. Sometimes in life we do things because they are important to us. I'm comfortable and money is not my number one goal. I know that may run counter to why this forum exists, but seeing how niche markets that have gone basically unexplored may have potential in the marketplace, could be a good thing for all of us. I was just wondering if there was something I could do passively to offset expenses. I was asking because I'm clueless.
It's not something I would have the guts to do.
What's to fear??? You only live once. Life is short. "Go, long."
Also, I'm wondering if this market spends money on ads to any degree?
Again, not a issue. In a couple of weeks when I do a soft launch you will have a much better grasp of what I consider to be my best project in 40 years of sales and marketing. I hope that at that time, you will concur with my assessment. We'll, see.
I hope you have tons of success.
A few pounds would be nice, but I have no personal aversion to dealing with "tons."

      Thanks for your input.

      Cheers. - Frank

Hey, if you market correctly you may can get $1 per site before you launch! I know I would pay you a buck a month to have my ad on your site for my particular location! Easy....I would get in on the ground floor of your new site now!

Sorry posted this at the wrong place**
Bad enough newbies and spammers are bumping old threads left and right.

You did it deliberately to continue an argument from another thread. To me, it's bad forum etiquette and plain bad manners.

(If you knew it was the wrong place you would have deleted the post).

If you saw the other thread, you would have seen that I was copy pasting a picture from this thread to put it in the other thread...I simply posted it here by accident, as the moderator will see before I changed my post here.

I have no idea how to delete a post by i'll be glad to do it if you show me how

Big Frank is still very active. Even though it's an old thread it would be interesting to hear what happened with those 6,000 web sites.
