Any simple but attractive landing pages for THIS purpose?

Hi guys!

I've got some exact match domain names that get type-in traffic. Not a ton of traffic, but the traffic they do get is pretty potent.

I was re-directing these domains to relevant affiliate programs, mostly on CJ. For example, I would direct a domain like PetSupplies.com (just an example, not mine!) to a pet supplies merchant. BUT... CJ is now frowning upon this, and they no longer allow domain name redirects. And some of the merchants I want to work with are only on CJ.

CJ says I've gotta create a web site for each domain name so it has an actual text link or image to click on. That's fine, but rather than a full-blown website I'd prefer to use a simple & attractive landing page so it's quick, easy and painless for the user to click-thru to the merchant -- and not abandon the page.

Anyone here have any theme, template or plug-in suggestions to accomplish this?

If not, any other suggestions you can think of ???

Thanks!

Landing pages would work very well for this purpose, especially if you add a promo code or similar to it to incentivize people to click through (and probably increase conversion rates).

Even if CJ doesn't have that policy, I always suggest people to build their own email list for maximum profit. Creating a squeeze page is very easy but can leverage your business to the next level in the long run using email marketing. You can even do-it-yourself your squeeze page. After the visitors give their emails, they can automatically be redirected to your sales page. Cheers!

Thing is, I'll lose money that way. Right now the users go DIRECTLY to the merchants page, so they instantly see exactly what they were looking for (and often times buy the product or service). If they have to input their email address, many of them will abandon the page and I'll lose out on any commissions. Know what I mean?

I've never understood this. Why on earth would someone click through to your site and then cough up their email address for the privilege of viewing a sales page?

It's like my local supermarket posting someone at the door to take everyone's mobile numbers down so they can send out offer SMS - and not letting anyone in if they refuse.

Yep, exactly. Sometimes an email request makes sense. Other times, not so much.

With that said, anyone have any particular theme / template / plug-in suggestions that would work well for this specific need?

        Thanks.

I'm not sure why people would want to give their email just to go to a sales page either, but you can use any landing page software, like optimize press or just an html editor, to create a squeeze page without an opt in if that's what you want to do. Just give a teaser of the sales page; a few key benefits of the product will convince them to follow through when you tell them to click the rather large button to learn more.

The promotion code idea is a great one.

If I were you, I'd try to make the transition between your page and the merchant page a smooth one. Try to match the color scheme, structure, and other aesthetics, so the visitors doesn't think they're being sold to.

That said, I wouldn't miss the opportunity to do a little preselling before sending them off to the merchant.

    SoundsGood,

First of all, you do recognize that landing pages are not web sites, right?

The reason I bring this up is because you stated that CJ said you had to create a web site for each domain name. So in essence, if you create a simple landing page you are not following CJ's instruction.

I would suggest you create a very minimal, simple web site (could be either HTML or a platform like WordPress) and then copy and clone that template so that the whole thing could be used again and again on your various domains. There are plug-ins available that will copy every detail about a web site and install the whole thing on a different domain in a matter of a minute or two.

By using this simple system, you will be doing what CJ has asked but it will still give you the opportunity to create a simple landing page that can be tweaked for each individual domain where you add your links.

The added benefit of doing it this way is that you can include an "about me" page, a terms and conditions page, a contact page, etc ONCE and then replicate all these pages with no extra work each time you set up one of your domains to forward your traffic. By having all the usual pages included on the site, there will be no question whatsoever that you indeed do have a web site and not just a single landing page.

I happen to use WP Backup Creator for the purpose of both backing up and cloning new sites, but there are a number of other software choices that will accomplish this same task.

    The best to you,

    Steve

      I should re-phrase that...

CJ didn't say those exact words -- they simply said it can't be a domain name re-direct. And since the only other option is to use an actual web site of some kind, I worded it that way. But it doesn't matter if the "web site" is a landing page or a web page or a full-blown web site. It just needs to contain a hyperlink of some kind and it can't be a domain name redirect. Does that make more sense?
