Video Sales: Cloud-based Amazon video sales for producers - sales ideas?
I've sold thousands of my dvds this last decade, but as I see more cloud-based video distribution (like Amazon video streaming for tv episodes/movies), I'm trying to figure out how to test this method.
Anyone use Amazon video streaming/on-demand distribution, or similar? Lessons learned?
Problem w/streaming is lower perceived value than physical dvds, so that's a constraint for high ticket items, can't sell a multi-dvd $495-1k type system w/streaming video (?) at that price point, easily. Thud factor of physical tangible product makes easier to sell at higher price points.
Anectdote: normally I always buy dvds/blurays. I don't buy streaming-only episodes of tv shows or movies on amazon yet. I've got hundreds of dvds I've bought, wife gets perturbed at clutter lol. But I'm seriously tempted, for example Castle season 5, a favorite show of mine, I'm thinking of buying it via cloud/download/stream vs physical dvds, since "it'll always be there for me" and I don't have to find/search/worry about scratching/dvds, as I normally do when buying. A big paradigm shift, for both us producers as well as customers.
