Is it necessary to change our Clickbank hoplinks?

Hi Warriors,

One of Clickbank's new feature is the new secured Clickbank hoplink. I'm promoting Clickbank products in various places, and they're all using the old hoplink.

My question is: Is it necessary to change my old Clickbank hoplinks to the new one? It would take some time to do the changes, so I won't be changing anything yet if the old links are working fine and secure.

Thanks a lot,
Michael

According to CB, the old link formats are still being tracked, though there are some speculative threads about the new format boosting sales.

As of now, my primary concern is getting sales. They have been rather down this past week.

I would probably say get to changing them. I have not made a single sale since the change. Although if you have the money to try out a few of the old ones. I would say try them first with your cheapest cb product just to see if it is working. jmho.

    No, its NOT necessary.

That hop-shield is nothing more than an CB internal "tinyurl"-style url encoder.

pete, you say you changed them and you didnt see sales....or you didnt see sales and you did NOT change them to the new format? My CB sales the last 8+ days are basically also NIL.

The old CB links are still working. I haven't changed any of my links
and I am still making sales, though I am concerned about the decrease
in conversion with most of the products I promote.

I have a mix of the old and new links. Since CB made these updates, my sales have hit the worse slump EVER. I can't point the finger at CB, but I am aggressively putting my own products together so I can put CB behind me. CB enabled me to get into the game, but it's time for me to move on and take more control of my business.

I just want to weigh in that my sales have not changed and I am getting sales with CB with the new tracking. I did have one sale that I can not figure out where it came from, and that is with the new tracking. Im confused about where that came from, but I like it just the same as every other sale

I have to agree I don't think anything should change, it just looks like an encryption code to me.

i think its a problem that the IDs are indeed getting encoded, but the ".clickbank.net" part stays the same.

    Why?

Because many AV programs and ad blockers actually BLOCK anything with "clickbank" in it...and this is bad.

All my sites have the old tracking link on them and sales have stayed consistant for me since they changed the hoplink codes.

I don't really see the point in the new link format.

If someone is going to hijack a commission, the new format certainly won't stop them.

I think it will have an effect on the effectiveness of Brad Callen's Affiliate Elite software. Though I'm not 100% on that.
