software boxes & dvd cases

I'm about to have a designer create a nice looking image for selling a dvd set. I'm not sure if the dvds will be mailed in a couple dvd cases or a software box (looks more professional to me).

If I use the software box as my image, is it a no brainer than I have to send the product in a box that looks just like that? Or could I get away with just sending the professionally printed dvds in the pro-looking dvd case even though I'm showing a software box on my site?

    I think it is somewhat traditional to show a box, because we associate that image with software, but that doesn't mean it has to be delivered that way. I show a box on the phpLD site, and always deliver our software through download.
