Kindle or App Business? Can kindle return massive profits by outsourcing the books?

Well, I know that there are many people out there who have had done a great job in building apps on several platforms. iOS, Android etc. They have ranked their apps in the top in different categories in app stores like google play and apple app store.
To be honest, I'm in a situation where i have to have a part time income in order to survive. Some months back, i was so much into android app business, i was really eager to start my app business until i came to know the start up costs to build an app.
I switched, yes, i did switched my mind from apps biz to kindle direct publishing business. I started looking for kindle stuff, did some intense research on KDP. It was really good to know that start up cost is very low. i went to a bank here, and i got to know that that i have to put $2000 in your savings account, if you want to use as US dollars. Sadly, i did not have that amount to spare. However, i couldn't even think of any business after that.
I came across a torrent "Mixergy Interviews" I downloaded it and looked up for selective, good title interviews.

The title above was really eye catching, i downloaded it and watched the interview of these guys, they were nobody. They took everything thing, they went from zero to hero. Their first app was "Convert Units" and it was free, the cost of app was $2000
and after year and a half they pulled in $83,000 a month with 10+ apps.
Now, the point is. I wouldn't say is that true? Infact, I would say. Is that possible?
Well, to be very honest. I'm really pumped up and want to start side business as soon as possible. Either it would be a Kindle books or apps business. If i start any, i will outsource everything.
is there anyone who is earning from apps or kindle books? How much do you earn?
