The Art of War and Internet Marketing?
I read it around 15 years ago, when I was a police officer. The chief gave us each a copy of it, and told us it would help us become a better cop.
And just recently I reread it again, and this time, as I was going through it... I kept realizing that a lot of it could also be applied to business and internet marketing.
"If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles."
To me, that means knowing your competition and also knowing how to make your own business unique and different enough to stand out.
"In the midst of chaos, there is also opportunity"
Some of my biggest "wins" online have always been at some of my darkest points.
The thing is, if all you do is focus on the bad... you may also miss the opportunities because your mind and energies are too muddled.
"Ponder and deliberate before you make a move."
I've talked with many, many clients who just spent a ton of money on either web design they didn't need, adwords that were wasteful, and a ton of other things that they didn't need to succeed... but they just threw money into a situation without thinking it through.
"So in war, the way is to avoid what is strong, and strike at what is weak."
I've had some top selling programs by simply finding small niches that had products with horrible marketing... and simply just made my marketing better than the others and was able to start taking more and more market share.
I don't know... has anyone else read The Art of War by Sun Tzu and while reading it... thought it applied to what we do?
