eBay Listings - how can I get more traffic?

Hi.

Can anyone recommend some highly effective methods of driving a large amount of traffic to my eBay listings?

I have thought a lot about the keywords in my titles, but still am not receiving very much traffic it is very frustrating to say the least! I see that some other eBay sellers are getting way more traffic to their listings for more or less the same product.

Please help me get more traffic to my listings guys as I badly need to make some sales!

Just try to use category featured options provided by ebay for your listings. You can also order Homepage Featured Gallery. It will help you to see your listing by lots of people.

If you mean pulling in traffic to eBay from outside of eBay, then I would recommend pulling that traffic to your own site instead. The only point of being on eBay is to benefit from their existing traffic.

But if you just mean optimizing your listing to maximize the amount of eBay's internal traffic that your listing receives, I suggest Googling around for some articles on how to optimize your listing.

put your links on social media platform and try to go viral with them....
If you have some money to spend, you can also buy targeted traffic and send it to your ebay listings (if allowed)

What you could do is create a FB fan page, then go to fiverr and search for a gig ($5) that gives you new fans to your fanpage.... the viral effect would be that all their friends will see this in the newsfeed and might check out the fan page as well and like it (become a fan) if they like what they see....
would be a try worth because most of it is free (exept the gig for $5, or several of them)

Eliminator has the right idea. The best (and most basic) way to sell on eBay is to study your competition carefully first. Do the most common search that brings up your type of item, then click the "Completed Listings" box. This shows the completeds for the last few weeks. Now at the top click to sort by "Highest First". Ignore entries with red price numbers and and study those with green ones. The green ones toward the top sold best and you need to do what they did.

First off, you probably want to imitate the wording of the top sellers' titles. Next consider how their thumbnail pics are different from the others. Of course you want to consider the price put on the item. If it's an auction check the bid history for what their beginning price was. Next, Study the kind of photos they posted, their description and their shipping costs and such.

Imitating top sellers is the best way to give yourself the best shot at a sale, though there are many other things that can affect sales. I've done all of the above with auctions and the item still only sold for half what the seller I emulated got. There are many factors at play, but the above steps give you the best shot.

  • You need to be exploiting your views to actions ratio.

A lot of people think that 'lowering your price' equals higher turnover, but that just isn't the case.

If you find yourself listing, relisting, and relisting, you're doing something wrong.

You need to know 2 things before you list an item on eBay.

1, the price it WILL sell for - because if you're grossly overpriced from the eBay market worth, than it won't sell.

However, if its fairly priced, then you're great! But now you need to be RANKING higher than the other people.

So, that plays into the second thing you need to know before you list something on eBay - the FORMAT!

When researching, you need to look at those 'smartest kids in class' and replicate their strategy, so you can replicate their result.

Once you do that, then you need to list your items specifically to exploit the views to actions ratio so that you can be perceived as a seller that will CONVERT.

From there, you're rankings will increase, even above the top-rated powersellers.

It's a great technique - far above the 'just go to social media' techniques. It's just not practical.

Heck, Why not go to the news! You'll get a lot of traffic then, but it's just not practical, nor is it necessary when eBay's algorithmic strategies of ranking high are pretty open when it comes to 'how' they want to make money.

People typically use eBay as a resource to generate more awareness of their own company, products, website, etc. Ideally you could generate a customer base from eBay and move them over to your own website where profits are greater.

I've also seen people post Craigslist ads to promote their auction. This only seems ethical if it is something that is attractive to local buyers. ie. a vehicle, or some kind of local memorabilia.

Typically? Only a relatively small percentage of eBay sellers do what you describe. The majority are there because they're taking advantage of one of the most robust marketplaces on the planet.

I was a power seller on eBay a few years back. I've also been selling some things there for the past few months. I was determined to prove or disprove eBay was now a bust because of higher fees and more seller control. I've come to the conclusion that not only is it as good as it ever was, it's better because there are far more free tools available to sellers than ever before. But I digress...

I'm a bit baffled by the question. Here's my take on this. If you're selling the right stuff traffic isn't a problem. Do an eBay search for a popular video game. Notice all the listings. They're all getting roughly the same number of views/hits because the game is popular and potential buyers will look at nearly everything. That's going to happen consistently when you're selling STUFF PEOPLE WANT TO BUY.

I shout because that's the key on eBay. Do a search for buggy whips. You won't find much. There are a couple of vintage whips there and a bunch of unrelated stuff. There is no legitimate way to boost views of stuff people aren't looking for.

One thing I do that many don't is I sell almost everything auction style and start the bidding at $.99. I know that helps a lot because buyers looking for that item know they have a chance of scoring a great deal if the item doesn't get bid up very high. Starting low just about guarantees you're going to get views if the item is popular. And... I know it's unlikely I'm going to lose on the auction because I only list STUFF PEOPLE WANT TO BUY, ensuring the item sells, sometimes for more than I would have been able to get with a "Buy It Now" listing.

There's a certain psychology that takes over almost forcing early bidders to go beyond what would otherwise be a reasonable price when they've been involved in the bidding since the beginning.

    Good luck.
