Unproductive 4 months - starting again question: what should I focus first on?

Since I have full time job, I have only 1-2 hours daily. My goal is to pay some of my financial debts off. What should I focus on to earn money by starting a blog?
My confusion is what business model to go with. Also, business model examples are: publish books on kindle, affiliate marketing click bank products etc.,
Correct?

I can write decently even though my first language is not English.
What tasks should I focus on 1-2 hours ever day and make effective use of the time?
What are the main tasks should I focus on with my time regarding marketing?

Thanks.

Pick a niche you know quite a lot about and focus on that niche. The more you know about that niche, the more easier it is to create a profitable website.

I always say set your goal first. How much money do you want to make? Is it in a month? So how many hours you have in a month to earn that money? Then build a detailed plan for what you should do daily in those hours within that 30 days so that you can reach your target.

You can't just say "regarding marketing". Internet marketing isn't a machine or a tool, in which you can just perform this task and that task, then you can get money from it. You need a plan and consistency.

You mentioned you can write. So let's take an example here's your goal:
    Goal: $500 in 30 days
    Working hours: 2 hours/day
    Price: $10/article

So, how many articles do you need to do in a month to get $500? 50 articles. It means, you need to have at least 1-2 articles per day in a month to earn $500. Do you think you can write 1-2 articles in 2 hours everyday? If yes, you've got your solution. If not, maybe you want to add your working hour or increase your price.

    Good luck!

One of the best things I really feel you could do would be to go on the boards and see if anyone is willing to help you and do a little mentoring and lend a third ear perspective.

It helps so much. I am not talking someone that charges but just someone who will help you I am sure someone will.

It saved my life because even though we pass it off it is so hard when we are stuck and cannot see a way out.

      I hope this helped.

In my opinion, the only thing to focus on is traffic, and conversions. Find an offer that is known to convert, and drive targeted traffic to it. That's as simple as it gets. I suggest paid traffic. Don't be scared of it because it's paid. Start small, and test. Here's my list of paid traffic sites, hope this helps: http://www.warriorforum.com/main-int...fic-sites.html

        Hi peter,

Of course you can. You CAN DO ANYTHING YOU WANT.

"How to reduce or get out of debt" is not a market, its a niche. The market in this case is "Personal Finance" and the subniche is "Credit Card Debt" (Here you place "How to reduce or get out of debt").

Now, if you pickup this market, it has its own specific ramifications/subniches like banking, bankruptcy/debt, budgeting and spending, credit card debt, credit, cutting expenses, life insurance, loans. I dont have to tell you that these are ALL profitable.

Out there there are people that want to know "How do i get credit" for example and there are over 100,000,000 searches every month. You kidding me?

Wanna talk about loans? Home loans, auto loans?

You don't need to do any research or ask anybody if debt reduction is profitable or not. Come on, seriously?

        Here are some data that you'll like;

"How can i get out of debt" has 9,140,000 monthly searches

Now you tell me if this is profitable or not.

You said you have couple of ideas, cool. Am pretty sure they can help other people out there get rid of debt.

Id suggest start blogging now. But first ask yourself what market you really wanna get into. If you go with this one you should become expert at it and build a reputation. Focus most of your time in providing great content that really help others and make your blog popular.

You can start with affiliate marketing, get a blog add good content, update it twice a week, pick low competition products, make a list, sell products and get commission. 2 Hours are enough but when you'll start making money you would want to skip the 9 Hrs job.

To follow your idea can I choose "How to reduce or get out of debt" market?
Since I have implemented couple of ideas to reduce my debt and one way to get rid or reduce debt is by making extra income on the side, can I blog about it?

Earlier we had lot of overtime work at my full time job. Now there is only regular work. That's why I have time now. Instead of finding another part time job, I want to sell something and make some money even if it takes time.

Is debt reduction profitable? How will I know?

      Thanks.

If you only have 1-2 hours a day the first thing to focus on is PATIENCE.

It takes time to get a blog up and running and making a decent income. Lots of time.

Do some research to find a WSO or Clickbank product etc and work through it step by step, systematically until you've done everything the course teaches. Then evaluate. You'll learn a lot by doing this and come to appreciate where your roadblocks are.

Then focus on getting past each roadblock.

Give yourself one year at 1-2 hours a day and by that time you'll really have a lot more perspective on what's involved.

Stick at it! That's all it takes.

Yes and no. Sometimes you can find success in a niche you know absolutely nothing about. EVERYTHING is researchable, so my advice is to choose a niche you believe you can make a profit from, whether you already know about it or not. Sometimes if you already know a ton about the niche, it's hard to appeal to beginners in it, but if you're new to it, as well, you can appeal to others new to whatever the niche is.

I agree, you need to set some goals, but we all function a little different. Be careful not to spend all your time planning and not get anything done that can actually make you money.l

I HATE this out-dated method. I know it works, to an extent, but blogging takes more than just a twice a week update. I say BLOG every day and don't always blog about the product or reviews stuff. EVERYBODY is doing that. Blog about something you learned, a cool experience, a video you watched or something fun. That's what people want to find on social media and that is how you will get people to follow your blog on a regular basis.

I agree, if you just go with blogging, you better be ready for a test in patience. However, if you add another strategy to your blog and you come into it with the right mindset, you can achieve success fast and for the long-term.

      Elaboration.....

I like to combine two strategies: blogging and paid advertising. Since you already have a job, you have some income from it. Figure out what you can afford to invest into the business of your choice. Even $10 a week in paid advertising will bring you new leads/visitors/customers. You may have to test a few strategies first, but you will find a paid advertisement you like and that works well for you.

While using paid advertising, such as Facebook ads, Google ads, Solo ads and other forms of paid advertising, you can blog every day to build up your long term plan. Blogging is like saving a few dollars a day towards retirement. It won't pay off immediately, but with consistent posts, you will see traffic start to trickle in. That trickle of traffic will go from a few random visitors, at first, to a steady stream of daily visitors, to a flood of traffic.

Some of the most successful bloggers had to get to 100, 200, even 300 posts before they saw any real results. Let this be something you don't expect to make money from for at least a year. Use the paid advertising strategies to help you make money faster.

BTW - this works with ANY business, ANY service and ANY product, when applied consistently.

      Hope this helps!

In my extremely humble opinion, one of the best things you can do is focus on figuring out who your audience is and what they want.

If you have a crystal clear image of your audiences wants, you can tackle almost any writing business model. You can blog and sell other people's ebooks... you can do freelance writing for clients... you can write Kindle ebooks.

The first week I would be going through as many blogs, forums and news sites related to my audience, as I possibly could. I would hit the library and start scanning through books my audience reads. I would be taking notes about interesting findings. I would also list the topics that very few people are talking about.

Once you do all of that, you've got an excellent view of the landscape. Then you can decide which writing business model is best for you and you'll be far more productive because you know what's already out there.

    Hope this helps.

They could be, if that's what you're interested in writing about. Or you could write about an entirely different topic.

Either way, I would still say do a good amount of research first.

One of the WORST mistakes I ever made in my business was getting too comfortable with a topic that I rarely did research any more. Newcomers to my niche recognized the changes going on and overtook my 'old school' position completely.

Nowadays, I'm constantly paying attention to what's going on with my audience. Even if I think I know everything, there's always something new to learn.

This is the problem I am finding tough to focus on.

What research should I do and how long?

Should I go with passion or profitability?

I kept on doing research and never did any productive work.

What research I should do that will tell me which business model to choose?

Pick a niche (which I assume that you already have since you
have a blog), do research, including keyword research to determine
what people in that niche want most... and are willing to pay
for, then offer it to them.

In the process of doing all that, focus on building the "know,
like, trust factor" so that they feel comfortable buying from you.

      Thank you Willie.

Actually I do not have a blog, everything is in my notebooks written with pen and typed on the computer and stored on my PC.

I learnt that owning your own business is a COMPLETELY DIFFERENT BALL GAME.

I think that is the biggest lesson I learnt from the past 4 months since I joined Warrior forum.

In fact, I have written articles taking the advise of warriors (in early April of this year, I asked how to start a blog and I listed my interests) in some of the niches.

Since my first language is not English, the main problem I am facing is FEAR to publish my contents.

I have been writing since my teenage years in my notebook almost every day. But, no one except me reads that (may be close family members).

I worry and fear that people may not like writing or there may be grammatical mistakes, etc.,

Do you think I should go ahead and publish my articles using at least first the WP platform wordpress.com?

Secondly, should I start building a list via wordpress.com?

Thank you again for reading and helping me to get up, dust off and start again.

I started writing my recipes and took photos and assembled at least 18 of them. Then, I read RECIPES niche is saturated and tough to make money. When you search "recipes" in google, nothing comes up on the right (Advertisements).

So, I gave up RECIPES niche.

I started to write on vegan, gluten free life styles but again RECIPES came within those, so gave up publishing (not writing).

Then I started to write my story (kind of memoir) as a non-fiction book to publish and then FEAR overpowered me and said that writing sucks. So, I did not publish it.

Thanks to my knowledge of meditation, yoga, and responsible healthy eating and exercise, I am still able to manage myself.

      Please advise.

      -Peter.

If you want to make money faster you must concentrate your attention on offering your services as a writer.

You only have two hours at your disposal.

If you will try to promote a new blog you will have to spend a lot of time writing, trying to get traffic, finding good affiliate products to promote at your blog, etc. and without making sales before you will manage to get enough traffic. This is a long journey.

Do not buy anything...instead take notes - someday it probably might come into use when you start moving until then - DO NOT WASTE YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY....I have learnt the bitter lesson and now I am focussed on what needs to get me going forward hopefully...it took me so many months and most of all valuable time and money... but its a good lesson.

I recommend you choose a niche and build a list in that niche. Send free content to your list, promote affiliate products that address problems in your niche and then you can create your own product later on and sell it to your list.

If you are going for the long term approach, I will suggest that you start off by building your own list of subscribers. I will personally set aside some of my salary and invest it on paid advertising to grow my list. Of course you want to make sure that you stay focus on helping them.

There are reasons why many marketers have commented that if they have to start from scratch again, they will focus on building their list right from day 1.

It all depends on the time and budget that you have. The most important thing is to have a plan and stick to it so that to take profit of the time that you have and to keep off distractions. I've been struggling for long with theses two issues, until I found a way out. Now I am having some results working only 30 minutes a day.

Thank you for responding. Can you share the way out that's making you work only 30 minutes a day and still achieve your goal?

You have mentioned 2 "evergreen" niches that you have interest in: debt and recipes. Don't worry about the competition. People are making money in both of these niches every day.

If you want to write articles and books in English, you can do a first draft. Go to Fiverr or Warriors for Hire section and find someone to edit your content for a reasonable rate.

I publish Kindle books and earn monthly residuals. I don't know what country you're in, but it may be possible for you to publish Kindle books written in English.

Promoting affiliate products is also an option.

We can't tell you exactly which business model to pick. You have to do that yourself after finding out all the ins and outs of each method. However, don't drop an idea just because some people say a niche is saturated.

Just find an interesting angle to write about that is unique to you. If you have personal experience in a niche start with that.

You can get a lot done in 1-2 hours a day, plus some weekend time once you commit to a business model and method. But, understand it takes time to build up steady income no matter what you pick. So, go with something that you can tolerate spending a lot of time on.
