The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year I spent a long time trying to make my websites profitable and earn a living from home. 8 years in fact. The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year for me was having someone show me how. Here's a good read for those of you still struggling to make a living from your site(s)... How to find the perfect mentor - Entrepreneur - Virgin.com "Finding the perfect mentor could be the only thing standing between you and a successful career. Yet most people don't bother trying to engage with mentors at all" Richard Branson has long advocated mentorship as a tool for developing entrepreneurs. He wrote on his blog recently: "Whenever I am asked what is the missing link between a promising businessperson and a successful one, mentoring comes to mind." Discussing his own mentorship, the Virgin Founder pointed out Sir Freddie Laker, who he credits as a major reason for the ongoing success of Virgin Atlantic. "If you ask any successful businessperson, they will always have had a great mentor at some point along the road," he added. "The first step to success in finding a great mentor is admitting you need one - not always an easy step for entrepreneurs used to making it on their own and working alone." Don't get caught up reading all those ebooks, programs, courses, and articles on "how it's done" unless you want to get caught up in a tornado of BS from hack writers and waste years of your life trying to "figure it out" like I had to do. Kill your ego, ask for help from someone who has already done it, and start living again. :) |

It's not the same as a mentor and you know it. How many $19, or $99, or $500 signups are you going to have to get for them before you realize you're being used and the guy at the top is raking it in. Good mentoring partnerships are 50/50. |

IF you get the RIGHT person. But yes, it works as long as you have a good teacher with proven results. |

You just said it yourself that your success comes from Empower. So you're doing exactly what they programmed you to do.. self promotion to sell their product. |

Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year Are There Any Real Mentors Left? Article I just saw touching on the other side. Figured this would be a good share given the theme (original not empower network) of this thread. |

Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year A mentor won't show you everything, and he/she won't build your business for you. You need many mentors, and you also have to learn many things by yourself. You have to find out what can work for you and for your business. |
Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year Luckily we have many people who are good mentors here at the Warrior Forum :) |

I guess that's the real trick. You can get to a point where it seems like you don't really need anyone to personally take you and show you the way. In reality, there's always so much to learn and it needs to be hands on. Just reading isn't the same. |
Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year These days everybody is a coach. There are coaching programs being hawked by big name guys teaching coaches how to charge more for their coaching. Coaches coaching coaches to create coaches. And from what I have seen most of these "coaches" don't know d*ck. They sold consulting for six months and now they are an expert on it and teaching everybody else. I guess my point is that these days I think finding a qualified mentor is harder than ever. The guys who have big success often talk about their mentors - but those men had names like Carnegie, Hopkins, etc. They were masters before they ever started trying to mentor anyone. Just keep your eyes open and verify... |
Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year believe it or not you could have an imaginary mentor watching so many episodes of the sopranos.. when ever I found myself ina challenge situation.. I would stop and ask What would Tony Soprano Do? :) |

You're the first to mention masters and that's a whole other topic but I suppose it's hard to tell who those are online. I heard it takes 10 years to master a subject. That should be your first credential for your mentor if you're serious. |

I also prefer to help people build up their online business because it forces them to align to my strategy and use my resources which makes things run smoothly. You might as well start from scratch in some cases because as much some people think that AdSense site is going to make them a 6 figure income one day.. it's won't, and you have to convince them it's time to let go and start over fresh. |
Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year I've had mentors most of my life, and they've made a HUGE difference. I don't currently have one but I am looking. My former mentor died. I also have an accountability partner, who has a LOT of practical business experience, and I belong to several mastermind groups with some very deep thinkers. My mentors have all pushed me out of my comfort zone and taught me to think bigger and redefine what is a "reasonable" goal! Willie |
Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year I agree that having mentors is very important. The best decision that I have make is that I have decided to follow just one mentor and fully understand that the mentor is doing. I personally feel that purchasing products or courses to learn is still good because I can learn new knowledge from it. But if I will be starting from scratch again, I will make sure that I choose a mentor and invest in it as it will prevent me from wasting unnecessary money and time. |

I've had 3 just for online businesses and they all taught me completely different things. One person sold diet pills and made $20k/week doing it and another one ran some porn sites and was making $1M/month hands free. Although I didn't get into either of those businesses I learned some priceless lessons that I was able to apply to my own businesses. |
Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year The question I ask myself is "can a mentor be virtual?" Can Thomas Edison be my mentor if I read his words? Or Henry Ford? Can I receive mentoring from this forum by reading posts? |

Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year Pretty much how it is unless you're fortunate and somehow find your own way on your own. Coaching got me solidly within the four figure range monthly (previously my income was a little erratic) and I plan to do a 4 figure mastermind group once I reach $10k monthly to push me higher. So for me coaching was the difference between a relatively unstable income and something i could continually rely on. I know some coaches don't work out and it can suck to be in that situation. But with coaching that costs $xxxx I have seen amazing results. It depends on your coach, your situation, your knowledge and how well your coach presents the material so that you can profit fast. Once I hit $10k+ monthly (which has been my continuous goal) I don't mind reinvesting that to push toward $20k per month and beyond. Sometimes that is what it takes. |
Re: The difference between making $50,000/year and $350,000/year Thanks for this post, I have found a mentor and I am finally getting what it takes to be successful |
