Default Wordpress Without Plugins?

G`day,

we all know how powerful Wordpress is, plugins extend
that capability tremendously .. downside .. the time it takes
to organize/upload all these plugins then constantly having
to check for the latest updates.

I HATE IT!! .. lol

Soooo ... I created a special WP Theme and during my testing
I decided not to upload any plugins at all. Man that site came
together sooooooooo much quicker it`s scary.

Now I wonder ... do you upload all your plugins before actually
putting content up on a new site? I`m talking brandnew ... activate
Wordpress on a "virgin" domain ... upload/activate Theme ... upload
plugins then put content up?

Or have I been a nong and done it arse about till now .... ?

I`m also wondering if anyone actually uses Wordpress without any
plugins activated at all? I most likely will upload/activate a few ...
can`t resist really!

I guess I don't really see the issue here.

I have a folder on my local machine. I store the themes and plugins I use. I upload the plugins during the theme installation then activate them. Whole thing uploading and activation is a few minutes at most.

If you have cPanel it's really fast... upload the zips and extract them right in the folder.

And what is the point in updating everytime something comes out? If it ain't broke don't fix it.

Don't update just to be doing it.

I use the automatic wordpress plugin installer, type in the plugin name, it brings up a list, you hit install, then activate and it's done.

I think there are some plugins you should really install, the main two been all-in-one-seo and wp-db-backup. I just update from the wp-admin these days as well, alot quicker.

but for default plugins, as internet marketing gig has stated, I have a default folder of around 10-12 plugins, and i just upload that into the content->plugins folder.

If there is an update, i always check to see if it's a feature of sectuiry/bug update, if it's a sec update, the plugin gets updates (on 40+ domains), if it's a feature update, i'll evaluate it to see if it'll help, if it does, it gets updated =)

To speed the process up do the following:

1. Create a folder called Wordpress.
2. Create 3 folders within that folder called "install", "plugins", and "themes".
3. Download every theme or plugin you might ever consider using and make certain they are extracted and organized in these folders for easy upload.
4. Duplicate this process for different versions of installs...

by that I mean if you have different groups of plugins or themes you use for different niches, then separate them into a different WordPress folder setup as described above.

Then if you ever need to install Wordpress, it is as quick as a simple upload, and then activating the theme and plugins. With the new version of Wordpress it is a one click process to update plugins.

Side note... Wordpress without plugins is just crazy talk.
