Hi Guys

As a newly launched e-com selling sports/nutrition supplements, I have no huge marketing budget and therefore cant compete with the existing 'big boys' for ad words etc. However I do have time. In your opinion is the time best spent blogging..if so what tips could you give me here, or is my time best spend creating infographics about my products, so for example a protein shake v's a macdonalds milkshake. Also if this is the best route, have you any helpful tips here.

Many thanks in advance

  • Why not both?

I think if you have to pick just one, go for blogging because you'll get more benefits. You'll get traffic from search, you can syndicate to get traffic, ect.

Infographics are hot right now though, so I'd suggest making those too! Maybe a 3 to 1 ratio of blog posts to infographics?

    Good luck!

a good point. I guess I was keen to hear peoples ideas of which would work the quickest, and therefore what I should concentrate my efforts on. I am an absolute newbie..please could you explain how 'syndicate' works. Many thanks for your reply and help

Blogging can not only help your current business but future businesses as well. Assuming your capturing emails, your blog can help you build your list. I think both are beneficial but blogging will help you build and maintain a great list. Best of luck!

I see, how would you go about capturing emails. Would you only allow to viewer to 'read on' if they register as a user on the site? Thanks for your help

The "read on" method does work. Most of us have more than one email, our spam email we give out regularly and our email we check often. As a consumer I am more likely to give my my best email address if your sending me something I want. This could be a one time email or weekly/monthly email. I believe people are more likely to give you their best email, if your sending them product info, health updates... basically some information they want. I think if you tell people up front how many emails they will get from you, such as, once weekly, they are more likely to give you their best email address because they know they won't be sent multiple emails a day. Hope this helps!
