In need of help promoting a book

Hello everyone!

I am a brand new author of a children's book series. I'm seeking advice on how to promote the series. I am on other media sites, however the buzz/word is not reaching out far enough. I am so excited for my new book to come out mid to late September. Any advice would be appriciated. Thank you for your time!

Congrats on the launch of your new book, Patrea! From the looks of your Kickstarter, you're already onto your next project, too. Boosting your reach for a children's book is tough: after all, the people most interested in your product aren't researching it or hitting you up on Twitter. And so a lot of the strategies that usually work for adult-oriented books don't apply to kids' books.

That said, you can still utilize some of the tactics for aggressively expanding your reach to marketers, stores, retailers, etc. The one I want to draw your attention to is guest blogging. A quick search for the phrase "children's books blogs" reveals quite a few blogs dedicated solely to reviewing new children's books.

Take this one, for example: Mundie Kids Children's Book Review Blog. Mundie's in a TON of Google+ circles and has an active following, probably composed of the people who buy and sell children's books. That's the sweet spot you want to be in. Approach these blogs about having your new book reviewed. Give them a copy of the book in exchange for a review, and see what happens. You'll generate valuable links to your site and buzz around your new book.

If you'd like a few more general suggestions for authors promoting their brands, check out a post from my company's blog here. Best of luck with your new book!

    Two suggestions.
    1. using warrior for hire for someone to promote for you on site(Amazon) using SEO skills to push your book to page 1 in your category.

    2. Bulid yourself a salespage or blog and feature the book you intend to promote and drive traffic to the amazon salespage, using off-page SEO skills. Paid traffic might not be good because payout too little for books.I personally think it is well worth it if you were to come up with new ones.

Congratulations on your new book Patrea...

Both PCG Tech and misshang make great points....

I would like to add one to misshangs suggestions.. You could also build a landing page, offering a leaked chapter of the book for free to build a subscriber base so in case you will offer future books in the childrens book market then you will have instant traffic to send to future releases you may be selling.

You could look into buying some ads on children related sites such as mini-game sites or learn how to read/write sites. This well get the attention of the children themselves and their parents. Or try promote it to Facebook to parents persuading them to buy it for their kids.

So far has your ebook gotten any sales?

I have actually helped a lot of people here promote their ebooks which have done remarkably well. Probably in the next 10 to 14days i will be coming up with a WSO to help newbies or busy people like you skyrock their sales.

    Here are some little tips:

    1. When you are uploading your ebook you should check the "series" option, this will make it easier for your readers to find your new series book when it's out.

    2. Also, endeavor to link one or two of your previous ebooks at the end of any book you have written. If they enjoyed your first ebook they are most likely going to buy the recommended one.

    3. Pick keywords related to your book like "children books, children fairy tales" and the likes and optimize your Kindle for it..

    4. Aim to get a very good book trailer video and pick some good keywords including long tail ones.

    5. Do some web 2.0s and comment backlinks for both Kindle and Video and you could be ranking for the long tail in a few days or weeks and even your keywords.

    6. Give out some free copies of your ebook by setting free dates and hopefully, you will get some good reviews in exchange if your book is worth it.

    7. Feature your book on social media and any related book website for traffic.

Once you can set the ball rolling, it's almost automatic..

You may consider offering your book in an eBook format for the Amazon Kindle.
Once you do that you could promote it on Amazon with free copies (KDP select) - this may help your printed books too.

I think the best way to go about this would be to offer a small childrens book for free in exchange for an email address. This way you would be capturing emails of parents. These parents would then read your free book to their kid and if their kid enjoys your book then you have a good chance that the parents are going to buy one of your books later on. You just need to keep promoting your books to your email list!
