Videos. Make some entertaining, engaging videos related to the nice of your website, and market them on YouTube and other video websites. I also recommend Google+, is not hot for actual social media, but Google loves to get results from his own products, and they ranked higher on actual search page results. Podcasting is also recommended for making authority and viral images on FB, Twitter, Pinterest, etc. Buy my first pick are videos. And old school SEO.

This is absolutely true. Google penguin loves the back links. Backlinks mean to Google that your site is popular. But I also know that you have to be careful with back linking. Buying back links is a bad idea. Many people offer back links for sale and allow you to pick the anchor text which is great, but if they sell links to every tom dick and harry that comes along, Google knows and penalizes heavily. The best thing for building back links, is finding .edu or .gov sites that relate to your niche. The next thing is to contact the webmasters them selves and ask if you can guest post with rel= follow back link in your byline. They are usually good about it, and as long as their site is related to yours in some way they will allow it. Also it is vitally important to offer high quality, original content. Not to say you can't talk about things already talked about, just add your own personal expertise to the topic.

Also if you have engaged in back link buying and have found your traffic has decreased, it's ok, Don't write a reconsideration email to Google, the best things you can do is if you can find with webmaster tools, or just by doing back link searches on your site, the links that are bad, contact those webmaster's and ask them politely to remove the link to your site, or at least change it to a rel= no follow link. That way over some time it disappears from the Google search. If they webmaster tells you to go away, then you can use Google's disavow links tool, but make sure you try and remove the back link yourself. Anyway, this is a little off topic, it is just something that I have been researching a lot lately, because it is one of the most important things to do once your site is built, is to get the back links to it.

  • I just started using this plugin on my WP called WordPress SEO. It's a handy tool that you can download from yoast.com

I forgot to mention FREE! It's great because it breaks down your posts in a box in your admin panel and tells you what else you should add before you get the green light from the plugin. Killer Tool. Let me know if you end up using it and I can help you get started.

I alway say ditch SEO too. But what I say and mean is too different things. I will give one of my boring analogies.

I have hundreds of sites I call sitters, they do nothing but sit there and earn me a peasly income. From single digits to double digits a month.

I build them I do BASIC seo. if they do a little decent say a few sales a month, I may put 25 in them for some quality links. Not too many but some high quality with articles.

I may add content once a week, once a month or once a quarter depending on how they perform.

For me traffic right now is Social Media and I just learned this. I am lucky cause I have been doing this a long time and have contacts that are gurus there so I fill like one now.

I had 3,000 visits off reddit the other day. Gotten hundreds off of facebook in an hour and twitter is working like hotcakes for me.

That is all I have to tell you, I hope it helped.

I do not think there are any new ways to get traffic, sure there might be some new tactics, but this sort of tactic has been around even before the internet was not around.

I think with traffic, people move from tactic to tactic without trying something out and getting good at it. I use to do this, until I focused on one thing, got really good at it and then moved to something else.

Out of everything I tested I found 2 things to be the best. Forums, and Paid traffic to be the best, But that was just for me. Sometimes my IM friends are killer at FACEBOOK ads, and spend the time to do this and that is what brings them results.

I think you need to test things and see what works. I know quizzzes for some poeple work out great for others, they are dismal and just do not work for the niche they are in. That is why you must test.

I am getting better at social media paid traffic, and think there is a good future there.....however I am of the belief that you should get at one or two ways to get traffic, get better until you are the best and continue to do that.

What has worked best for me with the quizes are solo ads, and keep the quiz 3 - 6 question long ( multiple choice). There being used so much now it's become generic and I wouldn't put any money into it since the big mlm's like empower network are running the crap out of them and it's getting a bad name.
