Can I use the logo safely..?

Hey guys,

I am trying to use a company's logo in my offline printing business. I will be printing a lot of this particular logo on banners.

I understand that I can easily get into trouble by directly using their logo. Any workaround on this?

Can I use the logo after I change the color, or fonts?

If not, how can I use their logo safely?

Thanks.

If you find it necessary to print someone elses logo then this would suggest an affiliation of some sort, so affiliate conditions would be applicable for it's use.

Contact the company who's logo you want to use.

Depends what you're using it for.

But if you're making money on their name & trademarks, without their permission, they might very well come after you.

Create your own brand, rather than parasiting off somebody else's

IANAL, but if you are doing the printing as a work for hire, then the onus may fall to the customer to secure permission. Just ask for the license or the location of the TOS that allows the logo's use, and file it with the order.

If you want the logo for your own use in the business, get written permission from the company and keep it on file along with any terms or limitations. Follow the terms to the letter.

If you want to exploit someone's trademark without licensing or permission, obtain the number of a good IP attorney and keep it on speed dial.

  • Some companies are very specific about the use of their logos,

    I.E.

    Permissions ? Google

    https://www.facebookbrand.com/

    Others, not so much.

I suggest you visit the site in question and read their copyright / trademark policies, (which will probably say something similar to "don't use our stuff without our permission.",
In which case it's better to contact them and tell them your plans.
I've seen companies give permission, but rarely to "change the color, or fonts".

    Good luck.

Is there a reason you do not want to have your own log made?

If this is for promotional reasons you should probably ask them.
