Automotive site reaching over 1,000,000 pageviews monthly, best way to monetize?

I own a site which receives more than 1,000,000 pageviews monthly. Most of my traffic is from USA, Canada and UK. My traffic comes from search engines and other locations + direct traffic from returning visitors.

Now i have a question. What is the best way to monetize such a traffic? currently i'm using adsense and earnings are okey, but not too good. What else i should do besides adsense?

Also if anyone would be interested in advertising on it, you can reach me out there - http://www.camarocarplace.com go to contact page for email and i am open for all advertising offers.

Maybe sell some of these through Amazon?

Amazon.com: Car Freshener 10155 Little Tree Air...Amazon.com: Car Freshener 10155 Little Tree Air...
....even if you don't use those, what about searching for items that would complement your site, and provide further value to your readers?

I would monetize your site with some good cpa offers on networks Like maxbounty, peerfly, etc....

I would also charge a monthly fee to potential advertisers For banner ads, text links, etc...

    Test, test, test!

Find products that people involved in automotives would be interested in purchasing. Sell banner ads and text links on your site. Test, tweak, profit, scale up.

Yes, am curious if just putting any relevant auto products on your site will generate sales. Also, wondering if you should actually test the product to make sure that it is worthy of recommending to your customers. There may be some risk to your reputation if you haphazardly recommend products to your readers and they turn out to not be effective. Am doing the same thing, and haven't tried products that I am recommending to my readers. Guess I'll find out the hard way.

Depending on your content and audience you could partner with niche providers and aggregate relevant services e.g. car breakers/parts.

So what Automotive site are you talking about? If it's that camaro car place, then, judging by its Alexa stats, most of those views are junk

You have a lot of options. For example, I bet your users would be interested in buying Wipe New if you had an article about how well it works to clean up your car (I just bought some for my Jeep).

Everyone wants to save money on their car insurance. All-state, Geico, and State Farm keep reminding us of that daily on TV. You could push this auto insurance offer we've had on PeerFly for over 2 years now

We also have a lead form for people in car accidents.

What I'm getting at is that you have a lot of options to monetize your traffic and it sounds like you have a great site you can use to funnel that traffic.

  • Chevy,

    1. You may want to check that your adsense units are optimized properly. I'm always hearing how people aren't making as much money with adsense and then when I look at their websites, I can see why. Your color choices, ad units and placements can be the difference between making a few hundred dollars per month to a few thousand. So keep that in mind.

    2. You may want to contact some of the advertisers you're seeing on your adsense ads directly and offer them to purchase directly with you and cut google out. I've made some great money like this by creating custom packages for certain advertisers.

    3. Mix cpa and cps offers into some of your adsense slots. Combined you can make some great money because now you cover different type of visitors. Some visitors will only click on links, some will fill lead forms and some will actually buy. So you want to have a mix of all these options so you're not leaving money on the table.

    Hope this helps.

I think CPA or CPC should work better than that CPM.

I used to sell high end car stuff back in the day. Commission Junction had a few affiliate programs that made decent commissions in the car niche.

But as you stated you have to sell the expensive stuff for it to be worth it. I don't know what Camaro people like to do. Maybe nitrous systems? I sold to offroaders so they bought things like air lockers and such.

Testing will be the only way to determine this. You could test CPA offers, try bidding out ad space, contacting vendors about advertising on your site, etc. You just have to be a mad scientist and start trying different things out. Eventually, you will hit on a winner.

Congrats, for making you site worth! I think you should keep using Google AdSense or other relevant ad networks. Adsense is the ideal approach to monetize a high traffic website but rather than that, you additionally work with linkworth or buysellads other than adsense. Linkworth exceptionally is giving you chance to profit in different courses from a solitary site. If you need to sell adspace then you can use buysellads. You can also go for clickbank, affiliate marketing and selling banner space.

You mean you haven't monetized yet. I would of started well before 1,000,000 page views.

That is beside your question though isn't it. I just can't imagine having a site with 1 m pageviews a month with no monetiziation is all.

First thing I would do is get rid of adsense. Rip offs is all they are.

Now I would make one awesome product. probably about 30 pages in length and start building a list before I would do anything. With 1 million page views and only small click rate and conversion rate would give you a mighty big list in no time.

Then I would use affiliate ads and not too many, maybe three of them. One banner and one sidebar with one footer.

A million page views with adsense. Man come on get busy and make the money.

Try monetize your own automotive site with Amazon as an affiliate. In that way, you could display automotive or car related products to your website, and you might be getting more sales than ever. You can also try automotive or car related affiliate programs as well.

Yeah Amazon, you get paid 4 percent out of the block and if your lucky your state is still active in six months. Go for that one.
