Default If You Could Start Over...

If you could start over in the IM field what would you do first?

We have all made mistakes and learned from them to build or business...
Is there anything you would do differently if you had to start all over again?

I know instead of doing 'bum marketing' I would build my list and grow the trust of my list

So what would you do if you had to start alllll over again?

Well since I started marketing online in 1997 there wasn't a whole heckuva lot you can do back then compared to these days.

No cheap overseas outsourcing, no simple website deployment like using WordPress, no video marketing, there were barely even any merchant accounts.... LOL

There really wasn't anybody else to learn from either most of the marketers were just starting out.

So I would say that anybody who gets in the Internet marketing these days actually has an advantage. They have a lot of people that they can learn from, and a lot or resources to get them going quickly and easily.

If I had to start all over again I would absolutely build my team a lot quicker.

The first thing is coming here to the main section of the forum and read, post, learn and have fun. Also get a subscription to Affiliate Classroom and Internet Marketing Center.

Boy, am I glad I didn't start in 1997. You guys had it really rough. I need
all my modern toys.

I give you a ton of credit for making this work back then.

I will visit Warrior Forum then and learn as much as I can. =)

It is the biggest IM ebook you can get online.

I actually wouldn't do anything differently. I would go through the same path as I did... reseaching the forums, not spending too much on WSO's and searching for guidance from people willing to help.

Hi Zach,

I would generate immediate cashflow by creating an information product and set up joint ventures with entrepreneurs with large mailing lists.

I would avoid affiliate products, adsense and seo, at least initially. They require too much time to see any profits.

Hope this helps...

If I could start over.. I would definitely have stuck to it when I started back 3 or so years ago when I was a little younger. I am just starting back since a few months ago with much more knowledge and power... could only imagine if I had stuck with it when I first started.

Zach,

I would enroll in a coaching program by a millionaire like I did this time as well.

And then just follow thier business model building upon thier mistakes and making a tonof money.

Sure Amy!

Blogging beats static websites everytime.

bgs are simple traffic magnets, and then traffic shotguns.

When I first started I bought a website for 1000 dollars that made me 100 dollars
And than I made a free blog and made 2000!

I think blogs won there

Listen and learn BEFORE buying a thing. Some stuff is so inexpensive we absolutely think "Hey. What the heck?" Then we get it and we're like, "Hey. What the heck?"

So, get on a lot of lists, build a warehouse of knowledge on the subjects that really matter and oh yeah. Teleseminars. Find a free one with quality guests and tune in. Here's a good one: www.8WeeksAway.com

In fact, my buddy Cam Forbes has a copy of a recent one that is killer. Search for the thread, "The WalMart Interview".

Welcome.

If I could start again at that poing in time, I would have bought existing revenue generating sites instead of going straight into e-commerce (too much hassle for profit)

I would also have built my 20 million page spam site much sooner. At that time, Google would not have a clue what hit them and I would have made thousands of dollars per day.

If I knew then what I know now, I estimate that I could have saved about $10,000 and about two years of learning curve time.

I probably would have spent a little more time looking into and investing in domain names.

It's like a long shot at the pony races. Something like pizza.com was less than 20 bucks at one time and just sold for a couple million or something?

That would have taken all of 5 minutes work to purchase. That is what I call really lazy passive marketing. Who cares if you sell it once when you sell it for that much.

It would have to be to build a list. It took me a couple of years to figure out that a list of happy clients is a goldmine.

I'd stop being distracted by all things bright and shiny. i.e the next set of internet toys.

Interestingly, it was a lot eaier to market then, nowhere near the amount of competition. When I started in 2002, you could throw up a website and have organic traffic practically straight away.

Wish I knew then what I know now
