The Costs of Fulfillment By Amazon?

Hi,

I have spent the last 6 weeks flipping used books and I am quite pleased with the results however I am already running low on storage space. Therefore I need to get on to Fulfillment By Amazon but I am struggling to understand the costs involved.

I have to pay for the book to be shipped to Amazon and then I have to pay for it to be shipped to the customer so I am struggling to understand how this can be financially viable.

There are a couple of things that will help...

First of all, make sure that your books actually sell! Because if they don't, you'll get charged for storage and you can run into a negative balance pretty quickly.

You'll also have to sign up for the Pro account I think, but if you have a lot of turnover, that should more than pay for itself.

Also, once you have a Pro account, you'll get a big discount when it comes to the fees Amazon charges you.

And, for the shipping of the books to Amazon - you'll be able to use a special Amazon discount (I forgot whether they send you a label, but it'll be something like that), so you'll be able to send them very inexpensively.

Finally, I believe that when you use FBA, your books are eligible for Amazon Prime, which means that they get listed way on top, and... well...

I don't really know how much Amazon (if anything) will charge you, so you should check into that one.

For all I know, people are doing it quite successfully, so it looks like a viable option, provided you have books that really sell...

Here's a link where you can find out more about fees...

    Thanks,

I think I need to give it another 2 or 3 months and see where I am then. I am really pleased with the sales so far. I'm $126 down but still have $4700 books left to sell.

I have made a few mistakes like purchasing a few books but it is a learning curve. I first thought it would only be non-fiction books which would be profitable but if you have a keen eye fictional books can also be profitable but they are few and far between.

One of the ways to ensure sales is to turn books around quickly. I.e., if you buy books for your own information, read them soon and then put them back on sale on Amazon Marketplace, and you're likely to sell them quickly and get a portion of your investment back quickly.

If you wait too long, though, you may find that they're now selling for pennies...
