What Do You Want For Free

Hey Everyone,

Thought I would ask for your opinion on this one.

So I see in the classified ad section / wso section of this forum all the time ads giving away free products most of the time even though the products are free they are usually pretty good and you can learn a thing or two.

Heck the way that I and lots of other email marketers grow there lists is by giving away free products in order for the subscribers email and name.

So I was wondering in your opinion what do you most likely to give your
name and email away for: Is it software / ebook / audio ebook / templates / news letter / graphics ...

I am sure there are so many things that people could give away for free but in your opinion what do you think is the best thing to give away?

Thanks,

Eric

Software or an ebook, especially an IM ebook.

At first, I would give my name and email away to get anything free... but as I gained experience (and my e-mail box got clogged with marketing e-mails), I started to get really picky. I also learned that I am not a reader - I have many e-books that just sit on my hard drive.

So for me: I go for software that solves a problem or makes something easy or for useful audio books I can listen to an hour each day while I commute. Another great thing is to post a great training video showing some marketing technique and then offer to e-mail them the url - I actually do that if I need the training or technique.

Think about the type of people you want to be on your list - newbees will go for far less than experienced people will go for.

I'd say quality templates and software.

Most of the free stuff... hmmm, is there really such a thing free? Recently KFC gave free meals and it turned out many have to go to a store and fill out a form, mail it to KFC, to beg for a $3.99 "FREE" meal? Is your time worth more let alone the hassles... And I believe some of their rain checks will get "lost"... when think about free, think it again sometimes.

Everything! Unrealistic though, let's say I could survive with honest advice that works in whatever form you feel like handing it out, and perhaps some nice templates.

Video courses. The free video courses I've downloaded in the past few months have been very informative and I'd be happy to get more. On the other hand, I'm sick of reading stuff...so I probably won't be download any more free ebooks unless the offer is irresistable.

Videos that actually SHOW how to initiate and integrate a new technique into my overall marketing plans.

If it's a BS thing that 100 other marketers are already doing and I;ve already seen, or a rehash of the same technique, I delete and unsubscribe.

But... at first... anything and everything that was free :-)

personally I dislike video and audio information, it just takes too much time to get the same amount of information into my head compared to simply reading it. In my opinion the whole video craze is just about making it seem like medium amounts of content is actually endless, no offense to video users, if they work for you that's pretty much all that matters.

Also if the content is honest, high quality and actually works I don't really mind what format it comes along in.

I just like videos because I don't have to pay attention to them...if that makes any sense at all. I don't like having to focus on reading an ebook because I like doing multiple things at the same time.
