Just for fun ... if you could take all of the money you've lost over the years on your Internet Marketing journey and could go back to the beginning, whatever year it was you first started, what would you spend it on instead?

The purpose of this exercise is to analyze what you've "learned the hard way", not to go back and buy Apple stock or invent Facebook. What would you do if you had today's knowledge back then, instead of wasting it on junk WSO's and failed marketing campaigns that returned no results, stuff like that.

  • I've been lucky enough to have lost very little money. Time, however, I've lost a lot of, lol.

IF I could go back and do it over again I'd choose one thing to do, and stick with it rather than jumping around a lot. I'd start building a list right away and avoid the mistake of waiting 4 years to do it!

With the money I lost, I'd go get a nice Pizza and a six pack of beer.

Forget what I've spent. I don't regret any of that.

What I regret is the things I didn't do when it was incredibly easy to get multiple rankings at the top of the SERPS about 10-15 years ago.

I think I would have just started sooner and spent more time learning. I would have definitely rather have spent the money I have lost on knowledge whether that be coding, web design, learning new programming languages, or what ever. That lasts for a life time and only helps along the way. Plus then it would be much easier to make my own tools instead of buying/renting someone else's that may or may not do exactly what I want.

Back in 2008 Twitter, FaceBook, MySpace, YouTube had very rules or regulations. I was using bots like crazy back then adding hundreds of thousands of friends on auto-pilot. Stupidly I made one major mistake I didn't push those people to a capture page and put them on a list. Instead i sent them to an offer which made some money but, one time income is not worth having a quality list.

The second thing I would change would be to develop my system for helping people much earlier on. For a long time i tried training people one by one which wasted a lot of my time and most people are not serious. With a system you do the training once the people that are serious learn and take action the ones that are not fall of the map.

When I first started I couldn't even build a website. Things have come a long way. If I could save all the money I wasted over the years I think I would have spent it on a good coach. Some one who's reputation depends on how well their students do.
