Whats the best for accepting a large payment?

Im considering selling a website and it should fetch well over 10k. I dont like paypal, especially knowing they would probably limit my account after receiving such a large sum and wanting to withdraw it. ( and dont want to hassle with getting everything straightened out ). I have heard of escrow.com but i thought i remember reading somewhere that using an escrow service could be bad?

So I'm just wondering what others have done for receiving large payments and how it has worked out for you?

You are better off with lining up a real live online merchant account with a bank. Bank of America or any large bank has an online merchant account you can set up to accept very large dollar transactions. I know for a fact that Bank of America has a merchant division that is set up especially for internet transactions. I was offered it by B of A but do not have use for it yet since I don't do large transactions.

      Cheers,

Use an escrow to protect yourself. Pay the escrow fees and any good buyer won't mind at all.

Escrow accounts are much better to deal with. An unethical buyer could easily contest any bank transfers done online. Escrow services are set up to deal (and prevent) fraud where most banks consider it the exception rather than the rule.

Paypal ... only if you are willing to spend lots of time on the phone with them and 180 days or so without getting your cash.

Direct bank transfers ... if it were done online it would be difficult to authenticate and easy to contest ... even after the site had been transferred.

Definitely use the services of an escrow services ... an honest buyer may even be willing to help with the fees

    Just my two cents

Not sure if you and the payee are US, but a good old bank issued certified check
or Post Office issued money order would work no problem.

And obviously do not deliver goods until funds clear ( you knew that already though )
