My first attempt to build a list!

Hello

I've made my first squeeze page to start building my first list, now I promote my squeeze page just by posting it on google+ communities and on facebook pages, the total of visitors I've got till now is 46 visitors from all those people only 6 people opted in my list, now my list contain 6 people, all of them opened the first message in which they can get the free stuff I'm offering, but none of them opened any of the other messages.

I think that these results are not good at all, I still have $50 and I want to buy with it a solo ad, I'm working on the weight loss niche, should I have to buy the solo ad or should I have to change something from my squeeze page?

If anybody here wants to see it I can PM it to you and please help me out guys, I'm afraid that If I put it here I'll be banned.

Thank you all.

Hi, $50 won't go far when it comes to building a list via paid methods. You may be better off spending some of it on a good WSO that has lots of good info on list building and how to do it on a budget.

Do you have some kind of conversion tracking software installed? If you do you can do a split test, but you need a lot more traffic to do a good test.

Google Analytics works fine for this.

Also, 6 opt ins out of 46 visitors isn't too bad, but it isn't enough traffic to be "statistically relevant".

You need to focus on free methods such as SEO, link building or etc. With 50$ as a budget, you willl probably buy a decent solo ad but just one. It's better you work on some traffic strategies.

Usually when follow up open rates are not good it's because your freebie isn't really good. You should try and give away a really high quality free offer that provides a lot of value. When your subscribers see that you were willing to give them a lot of value for free, they'll continue opening your follow ups...

You only get 1 1st impression, make it stick..

VinnyBock: I give them 3 secrets to lose weight without exercice plus a PLR ebook that I've edited and I told them in my first message that we are going to start a free 25 days program for free starting from tomorrow, I don't even promote a product till the fifth day, do you think that all of that isn't much enough free quality content? I hope you'll answer me and thank you for your reply.

danr62: I don't have any converting tracking software but I'm using google analytics, thanks for your thoughts, I will work harder on getting traffic.

Fazal Mayar: Yes, that's what I'm planning to do, I'll work on the free methods for now, but I really want to buy a solo ad and I don't know where, I can't buy it from safe swaps because I can't find the weight loss niche solo ad there, if I need to search I have to register and it's a bit expensive for me now it's almost $30, if you have any other source where I can buy a $50 solo ad please give it to me I'll be very thankful.

That definitely sounds like a lot for free, but is it unique information or stuff they can read anywhere?...

The freebie is only 1 part to the list building equation, but more often than not, it's the give away that effects the follow up open rate (among other things)...

With only 6 people on your list I don't think you should push the panic button just yet. You can do a 100 click solo ad for your 50$ and that will allow you to test a wider audience...

You can track with Google Analytics, you just need to set up your "thank you page" as a goal in Analytics and you will be able to see your conversion rate.

If you are just using Aweber's (or whoever) generic "subscriber success page" then you need to get that fixed ASAP.

You need to get a better converting squeeze page before you spend any money on ads. You should want to aim for at least 50% but should be testing to always try and make that number higher. You are just going to waste your money on a page that isn't converting.

I would not do a Solo Ad. Think about what a solo ad seller does.

    1) They promote other peoples free offers.
    2) They do this over an over to the same list

    What does this mean?
The people on the solo ads sellers list are also on scores of other lists. They get hit with paid offers every day from people who got them on there list by buying the solo ad. They also get hit with the solo ad itself offering them free stuff.

Solo Ads themselves are expensive. $60 per hundred clicks is $1.20 per opt in with a 50% opt in ratio.

Pay over a dollar for an email address that gets spammed every day with tons of offers and is on scores of peoples lists? No thank you. Think about this. If the solo ad list is so great then why are they not marketing products to them instead of selling clicks. Ill tell you why, because the emails you will get from them are not great. They are saturated non buyers.

Also 46 hits is not nearly enough to judge the effectiveness of your squeeze page. So dont even take that or the number of opt ins you got into consideration yet.
