Hi, that's how much I lost today thanks to an error in one of my Adwords campaigns. It seems that as I typed the landing page URL, I selected the http:// field and scrolled down with my mouse accidentally and it changed to https:// . So all my ppc traffic for today got a nasty ssl error, and no landing page could be seen. Moral of the story, No matter if you are a Veteran Adwords user like me, ALWAYS check your ad's links (click ON the title) to see if the url is correct OR setup a secure page (https) with a copy of the website, OR setup your 404's just in case... ![]() ![]() |

Gotta love Adwords. PPC is killer, but man, if you make ONE mistake, your whole campaign costs!

i would of though that google would of been able to detect this type of stuff now, they check your page for relevance, if it came back with a non 200 status code, you'd expect google to say something, but i guess if they did, they'd lose a lot of income. I haven't been brave enough to venture into PPC yet, sometimes it seems safer to bet on the stock market lol |

Sorry about your loss. I'm sure google will spend it wisely ![]() It would be interesting to know just how much extra profit Google receives because of these kinds of errors, or click fraud etc... I can't think of any other business or organisation that can actually receive money in this way for basically nothing in return. Quite a case of legalised robbery. Along the same lines as government taxes - money for nothing most of the time. Even gambling isn't as bad because at least you choose what to bet on. Having said that, they can be bent and fix it so you can't win. But they wouldn't do that would they?.... I wonder if any of the very big advertisers have ever challenged google on this? Why can't google have a safety feature built in that checks all the links work? It's a bit like us sending our customers an empty box with nothing inside. Woops...That was just the luck of the draw. Occasionally we send out an empty box and unfortunately it was you who got it. Never mind, just order and pay again and we will try and send you a new one. Anyway, my wild guess is google have profited to the tune of say $100,000,000 from this kind of thing. Thoughts anyone? |

Sorry about your loss ![]() I'm losing with Adwords also, but not about money, but my time. So I gave up. I created 3 Adwords campaigns, one of them ran for 1 day, and then stopped. The others never actually show up. I did everything, checked everything, emailed them to ask and got an automatic reply with the instructions for everything I have done. So there, almost a month now. None of my campaigns are showing on search results or content network. |

| That's not good.Good luck with that one. I didn't realise Adwords had that sort of vulnerability. Quote:
